Box Score ADA, Okla. (September 21, 2014) – Lubbock Christian University's losing streak fell to three straight games Sunday, as East Central University benefitted off a pair of goals from Milan Galloway to defeat the Lady Chaparrals 4-2 at Lady Tiger Field.
The first three shots on goal for ECU ended up in the back of the net, with two coming in the opening half. Galloway netted the game's first goal in the 15th minute and Kourtney Holleman answered
Jamie Boone's marker in the 35th minute for a 2-1 ECU lead, which they took into the half. Boone's goal come on a free-kick in the 23rd minute for her fourth goal of the season.
Lauren Story, who was unable to stop either shot she faced in the first half, was replaced in goal for the second half by
Leslie Castellano. The change did not help, as Taylor Graves took advantage from a feed by Katie Glutz and put a shot from inside the box past Castellano for a 3-1 lead 3:45 into the second half.
LCU cut the deficit back to a one-goal difference in the 75th minute.
Audra Park registered her third goal of the season for LCU playing a loose ball off a save from a shot following a corner kick and placing it into the goal. The Lady Chaps had a pair of shots in the game's final 15 minutes, but were unable to tie the game. Galloway netted her second goal of the game and fourth of the season with 31 seconds remaining for an insurance goal to seal the win for the Lady Tigers.
Galloway led all players with six shots. LCU was out-shot 23-18, but the Lady Chaps had an 8-6 edge in shots on goal. ECU scored on four of their six shots on goal, with Castellano stopping two of the four shots on goal faced to suffer the loss (0-1-0). Taylor Lowe was the starting goalkeeper for the Lady Tigers and stopped six of eight shots faced.
The three-game losing skid for LCU matches their longest they had last season. The four goals allowed marked the fourth time LCU has allowed four or more goals under the coaching tutelage of
Alex Denning. It was the most goals LCU has allowed on the road since allowing six on Oct. 17, 2012 (at Oklahoma City). ECU improved to 3-3-1 with the win, while LCU falls to 3-3-0. They remain on the road Thursday and head to Odessa, Texas for a non-conference contest with Texas-Permian Basin.
