CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals conclude their opening week of Heartland Conference play Saturday hosting Texas A&M International.
• The Chaps are 3-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in on the season. They are winless in their last four games (0-3-1). Their last game resulted a 2-1 loss at home against St. Mary's Thursday.
• LCU remains home amidst a seven-game homestand, where they are 1-2-1 this season (3-3-1 last season at home). LCU is 4-5-2 all-time at home under
Lee Williams (2-3-0 all-time under Williams in conference home games) and 25-13-6 all-time overall at home.
STORY LINES• LCU's current four-game winless streak matches their longest winless streak in program history. The last time LCU was winless in a four-game stretch was in October of the 2010 season.
• The Chaps have out-shot their opponents in all seven games this season. They entered the week leading the Heartland Conference in shots per game (23.3), which ranked third nationally.
•
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron has scored in the three prior consecutive games leading into play Thursday. It is the first time in his career he has scored a goal in three consecutive games.
• The Chaps are home for seven consecutive home games and it serves as their longest home stand in program history. Oct. 10 will not only end the homestand, but it will serve as the final home game, as they will then head to the road for their final six games of the season.
• LCU entered the week averaging 10.3 shots on goal per game, which is fourth nationally. Even with LCU ranking in the top five nationally in shots per game and shots on goal per game, they do not have an individual ranking in the top-50 nationally in either category.
Lennard Hansen opened the week leading the conference individually in each category and ranks 64th nationally in shots on goal per game (1.7) and 89th in shots per game (3).
• Thursday, the Chaps suffered their first loss when leading at the half (3-1-0). LCU had won their prior 11 games when leading at the half, with the last loss when leading at half coming on Oct. 3, 2013 against Eastern New Mexico.
• The Chaps are 14-4-0 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and their loss Thursday marked their first ever loss in a conference opener (4-1-1 all-time and 2-1-0 in HC openers). LCU is 5-4-0 all-time in Heartland Conference home games.
SCOUTING TAMIU• The Dustdevils are 3-5-0 on the season and opened the week in Odessa, Texas, where they defeated Texas-Permian Basin 3-2 in overtime. They are winners of their last two games , which also includes a 3-0 road win at No.11 Fort Hays State.
• TAMIU is coming off an 8-9-1 season a year ago (4-4-0 in conference). They went 3-3-0 on the road last season and are 2-3-0 this season on the road.
• The Heartland Conference had TAMIU selected fifth in the conference preseason polls.
• Ryan Hodgson leads TAMIU offensively with 10 points off a team-leading five goals. Three of his goals have come in the past two games, including a two-goal performance Thursday.
• TAMIU opened the week leading the Heartland Conference and ranking 24th nationally in saves per game with an average of 5.86. Goalkeeper Miguel Lucio went into the week leading the conference and ranking 24th in the nation in saves per game at 5.60. He ranked sixth nationally with a 90.3% save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY WITH TAMIU• The series is tied 1-1-0 after wins by the road game in the two prior meetings.
• In the prior meeting (Oct. 11, 2014 in Laredo, Texas)
Mbongeni Ndlovu scored the golden goal in overtime for a 3-2 win in a game marred by 18 cautions.
• The prior meeting in Lubbock had to be played at Frenship High School's People Bank Stadium due to rain and TAMIU defeated LCU 2-1 (Oct. 14, 2013).
