LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (7-7-2) at WEST TEXAS A&M (9-6-0)Monday, November 2, 2015 – 7 p.m.
The Pitch (Canyon, Texas)
CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals not only plays the final game of a six-game road trip, but they play their game of the season Monday at West Texas A&M.
• The Chaps are 7-7-2 on the season and coming off a 2-1 win Saturday at UTPB. They need to avoid a loss if they hope to finish with a winning record on the season.
• LCU is 5-3-0 this season in road competition. They are 10-5-0 on the road all-time under head coach
Lee Williams (4-3-0 under Williams in non-conference road games) and they are 30-17-5 all-time in road play.
STORY LINES• LCU entered this week knowing their fate. LCU's loss last Sunday at St. Edward's eliminated them from postseason contention for the first time since 2010 (in a year they were eligible for postseason). LCU completed their conference schedule with a 3-5 record and a sixth place finish.
• The Chaps have out-shot their opponent in all but three games this season. LCU leads the Heartland Conference in shots per game (18.9), which ranks eighth nationally.
• Lubbock Christian has struggled offensively over the prior 14 games. LCU scored five goals in each of their first two games, but since then, they have not been able to produce more than two goals in a game. The Chaps are 1-6-0 this season when scoring less than two goals.
• Monday marks the final game of the season and the final games for seniors
Mbongeni Ndlovu,
Lennard Hansen and
Chase Williams.
• Saturday's win at Texas-Permian Basin featured something never seen before in a Chaps contest: An assist and point by an LCU goalkeeper.
Fernando Rios became the first Chap to garner either a point or an assist, as his goal kick led to a goal by
Kwame Adu-Wusu. The goal turned out to be the game winner.
•
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron, who did not play Saturday, leads LCU in non-conference scoring with three goals and three assists for nine points.
SCOUTING WTAMU• The Buffs are 9-6-0 on the season after falling 2-0 on Oct. 28 to No.2 Midwestern State. They have lost their last two games.
• WTAMU is coming off a 9-7-1 season a year ago. They went 4-5-0 at home last season and are 5-2-0 this season at home. The Buffs current two-game losing streak have been with losses home.
• West Texas A&M(like Eastern New Mexico and Midwestern State) competes independently, as the Lone Star Conference does not sponsor men's soccer. Next season, ENMU will join the Heartland Conference in men's soccer as an affiliated member.
• Christian Suthers leads WTAMU with five goals and 12 points.
• WTAMU ranks 46th in the nation with a scoring pace of two goals per game.
SERIES HISTORY WITH WTAMU• The series is tied between the two programs at 1-1-0, with the home team winning each meeting.
• The two teams last met Nov.6, 2014 with LCU winning 2-0.
• The prior meeting in Canyon, Texas was on Sept. 16, 2013 with LCU falling 4-1.
