Lady Chaps Set For First Heartland Conference Tournament Appearance

LCU In First Postseason Play Since 2012

LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK

•   The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals participate in their first Heartland Conference Tournament and their first postseason tournament since 2012. They open the four-team tournament Friday as the No.3-seed and face No.2-seed St. Edward's at noon. The winning team will play in Sunday's championship (1 p.m.) against either Dallas Baptist or St. Mary's.
•   LCU enters the tournament 8-6-3 and they are seeking to end a four-game losing streak, which includes a trio of shutout losses. Two of the losses in the stretch were to ranked programs, including a 2-0 loss on Oct. 25 at then-No.25 St. Edward's.
•   The Lady Chaps are 2-0-0 all-time in neutral site games and both games have been under head coach Alex Denning's tenure. The last neutral site game for LCU was on Sept. 27, 2012 in Austin, Texas (2-1 win over Houston-Victoria).

STORY LINES
•   LCU is coming off a 2-1 loss on Saturday at Texas-Permian Basin. It was the first time this season LCU had lost a game when scoring a goal. Their prior five losses on the season had been via shutout. The goal in Odessa, Texas in the loss helped end a program record scoreless sequence of 323:13. The prior program record for longest scoreless sequence was 306:47.
•   Lubbock Christian had been unbeaten (1-0-3) when tied at halftime, but in their prior two losses LCU was tied with the opposition (now 1-2-3 when tied at halftime). LCU had also been unbeaten when out-shooting opponents this season (8-0-2) until the past two games (now 8-2-2).
•   The Lady Chaps have goals from 13 different players this season, which marks a program single-season record.
•   LCU leads the Heartland Conference in points (102) and goals (39). Their 102 points ranks 45th nationally.
•   The Heartland Conference announced their All-Conference selections for women's soccer and Lubbock Christian University was represented with five players claiming honors. Kate O'Gara and Brooke Wendl claimed First Team, Audra Park received Second Team and Madison Boyd and Ashley Ledford was on the Third Team. LCU also received Silver Sportsmanship recognition as a team.
•   The Lady Chaps are 0-3 all-time in postseason play. They made three appearances in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, falling to Oklahoma City (2010 and 2011) and Science & Arts of Oklahoma (2012) in the opening round of each tournament.

SCOUTING SEU
•   The Hilltoppers are 12-4-0 overall and went 6-2-0 in conference on the season.
•   SEU went 15-5-0 last season (9-0-0 in conference). The Hilltoppers hosted the conference tournament last season, winning both games in overtime to win the tournament.
•   St. Edward's was the Heartland Conference preseason favorites this season, leading the preseason poll.
•   The Hilltoppers feature conference player of the year Katie Donahue, who has five goals and four assists for 14 points. She co-leads the conference in game winning goals with four.
•   SEU leads the conference and ranks seventh in the nation in shutout percentage (68.8%) and is 15th in GAA (0.56).

SERIES HISTORY WITH SEU
•   SEU leads the all-time series 3-0-0.
•   Last season (Oct. 25, 2014), the two teams met in Lubbock and LCU fell 2-1 with Mikayla Engel scoring the game winning goal with two seconds left in regulation. Claudia Sanchez scored for LCU.
•   This season (Oct. 25), the two teams had to move their game to Buda, Texas due to rain and SEU shutout LCU 2-0. Gracen Jacks and Whytneigh Duffie had the goals for SEU and Lorrie Santoy stopped all three LCU shots on goal.
