Chaps and Pioneers Set For 100th All-Time Meeting on The Diamond

Rivals Looking to End Losing Streaks

Lubbock Christian University looks to end a four-game losing streak Tuesday afternoon, as they host Wayland Baptist University for the 100th all-time meeting. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Hays Field.

The Chaps longest losing streak since April 2013 has them 5-4 overall on the season. LCU is coming off a sweep by the hands of Angelo State in which LCU was held to three runs. The last time LCU was held to three runs in a three-game series was in Feb. of 1988 at Texas A&M.

LCU comes into the game with a .329 batting average. Brett Wilhelm leads the squad with a .412 batting average. Shane Crawford is the hits leader (12) and Brendan McCarthy and Wade Stramp co-lead the team with 10 RBI. The Chaps have produced 11 home runs in nine games and three players co-lead the team with two each. On the hill, the Chaps have a 6.84 ERA. They have held opponents to a .329 batting average. LCU is 5-1 at home this season.

WBU is also trying to end a losing streak. The Pioneers dropped their last three games of a four game series to MidAmerica Nazarene. They are 5-6 on the season and hit the road with a 1-1 road record. WBU is hitting .285 this season and they are led individually by Chris Buitron, who is .455 at the plate. Gaby De La Cruz leads the team's power numbers with three homers and 10 RBI. The pioneers have a 6.05 ERA on the mound, with a .323 opponents batting average.

Tuesday will serve as the first of two meetings between the two teams this season. LCU won two of three meetings last season. This meeting marks the 100th all-time meeting between the two teams. LCU leads the all-time series with a 77-22 mark. The Pioneers have never swept the season series and LCU has not swept the series since 2007.
