*Game Video is Pending Per Bandwidth and Broadcast Location etc.The Lubbock Christian University baseball team needs a "break" to recover from suffering a three-game sweep on the road in Heartland Conference play over the weekend in San Antonio, Texas at St. Mary's, but that break won't come over Spring Break. They break away from Heartland Conference action with three games over a 16-hour span to kick off a six-game stay at the Tucson Invitational Games at Kino Sports complex.
Play gets underway at 5 p.m. (Central) Monday with LCU facing No.20 St. Cloud State University. The Huskies are 15-0 on the season, coming off a 13-2 win over Minot State. While LCU will be playing in their first game of their Tucson stay, the contest will mark SCSU's Tucson finale. The St. Cloud, Minn. Based program is 8-0 in Tucson and 10-0 in Arizona during their stay. They are hitting .342 as a team, with eight homers on the season. They have produced 51 extra-base hits, with 32 doubles. Michael Jurgella and Kyle Lieser co-lead the team each batting .500 on the season. Their pitching staff has an impressive 2.74 ERA with 100 strikeouts in 115 innings on the season. They have held opponents to a .247 batting average. LCU has never SCSU.
Following the game, the Chaparrals will transition to another field in the complex to face Sioux Falls, S.D. based Augustana College. The Vikings improved to 5-6 on the season after a two-game sweep Saturday over Concordia-St. Paul and are 5-0 in Tucson. They are hitting .300 as a team, with Patrick Fiala leading the way with 12 RBI, two home runs and a .417 batting average. They have a staff ERA of 6.86. They have held opponents to a .287 batting average. LCU has never faced the Vikings.
Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. (Central), LCU will face Concordia-St. Paul. The Golden Bears are 2-4 heading into Monday's game against Hastings College. The Chaps have never faced Concordia-St. Paul.
LCU enters the game 10-11 overall and seeking to break a three-game losing streak. The Chaps, 2-1 in neutral site play this season, enters the game batting .302 as a team, with 16 home runs.
Wade Stramp leads the team with a .366 batting average and a .521 on-base percentage.
Hunter McFall is the team's hit leader with 32, leading to a team-leading 24 RBI. The staff ERA is 5.35, with opponents batting .293 against them.
The Chaps are making their second appearance in the Tucson Invitational Games. They appeared in 2013 and went 3-1.
