Chaps and Pioneers Set For Series Wrap-Up Tuesday in Plainview

LCU Seeks to Avoid First Ever Sweep to Pioneers

The Lubbock Christian University complete a swing of 10 games away from home and a span of 10 games over 11 days Tuesday, as they head up the road to Wilder Field to complete a season series with Wayland Baptist University.

The two teams have met 101 times and WBU will try to complete their first ever sweep of the Chaps after wins on Feb. 17 (7-4) and Mar. 3 (11-10) at Hays Field. The Pioneers are 20-11 and coming off a three-game sweep of St. Gregory's University, which placed them with an 8-1 Sooner Athletic Conference record. They are 13-9 at home this season. WBU is hitting .312 on the season, with Will Bass leading the team hitting .376. They have 21 homers this season, with Gabby De La Cruz producing nine on the season to rank third in the NAIA. The Pioneers rank 11th in NAIA play in doubles with 66. Their pitching staff holds an ERA of 5.71.

The Chaps enter the game on a four-game win streak following a 4-2 record at the Tucson Invitational Games in Arizona. LCU is 14-13 overall and looking for their first true road win of the season (0-7). LCU is hitting .314 as a team and 10 different players have contributed to 20 homers by the Chaps this season. Hunter McFall leads the team with a .391 average and a team-leading 43 hits and 29 RBI. Wade Stramp has a .500 on-base percentage with a NCAA Div. II leading 27 walks. LCU is fourth nationally in doubles with 63 on the season. The Chaps have an ERA of 5.25 and coming off their first shutout of the season (19-0 win Saturday over Dickinson State).

McFall is batting .500 (5-for-10) against WBU this season with a homer and 5 RBI. The Pioneers are led in the series by Josh Alexander, who is 7-for-9 (.778) against the Chaps with four doubles. De La Cruz has 5 RBI in the series for WBU. LCU and WBU meet for the one and only time at WBU's Wilder Field this season. It marks the 102nd all-time meeting between the two teams. LCU leads the all-time series with a 77-24 mark. The Pioneers have never swept the season series and LCU has not swept the series since 2007.
