Lubbock Christian University looks to end a three-game home losing streak Tuesday in nonconference action hosting Eastern New Mexico University for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Hays Field.
The Chaps are coming off a three-game series sweep to St. Edward's University in Heartland Conference play. The three-game sweep at home marked the first time the Chaps were swept in conference play at home in program history and the first time they have been swept at home in a series consisting of at least three games since suffering a four-game sweep at home to Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Mar. 4-5, 1994. The series has them with an overall record of 15-16 and 8-6 at home.
LCU is hitting .305 as a team, with
Gerardo Arzaga leading the team with a mark of .367 on the season.
Hunter McFall is hitting .364 and leading the team in hits (44) and RBI (29). The Chaps have 98 extra-base hits on the season, but did not have one in the entire series against SEU. LCU has a pitching staff ERA of 5.12 on the season. The staff has not allowed a run in two prior nonconference games.
ENMU is 9-18 on the season, but coming off a four-game series against Angelo State in which they won three of the four games. The Greyhounds are 2-10 on the road this season and 4-7 in nonconference play. They are batting .265 as a team with Justin Paul leading the team with a .322 average. ENMU has five players with at least 23 hits on the season, but no one with over 28 hits. Their staff ERA is 5.67.
The Greyhounds have not played a nonconference game since LCU and ENMU met in Midland, Texas for a neutral site three-game series on Feb. 20-21. LCU won two of three games in the series and comes into the game with a 56-20 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 1971. The two teams have only met six times since 2004. LCU is 32-8 all-time at home against ENMU.
