All-Time Series: LCU leads 42-4
The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals aim to complete a three-game Heartland Conference series sweep and look to extend their three-game win streak, as Friday they face Oklahoma Panhandle State University for a noon first pitch at Aggie Baseball Field.
LCU has won three straight games and has improved their record to 18-16 overall and 5-7 in Heartland Conference play. Thursday, they swept OPSU 7-5 and 9-1 in a doubleheader to end a program record six-game conference losing streak and provide the Chaps with their first conference road wins of the season. LCU has now won their last three road games and their last seven games away from Hays Field.
The Chaps are hitting .305 as a team and hitting .299 in the series at OPSU.
Hunter McFall leads the team on the season with a .381 batting average and he leads the OPSU series in hits with four for LCU (4-for-9).
Jose Favela leads the series with a .500 mark off a 3-for-6 performance Friday with a pair of RBI.
Levi Westerlund is probable to start for LCU. He is 1-5 with a 4.57 ERA. Last season, Westerlund faced OPSU and went nine innings for a complete game shutout one-hitter. He faced two batters over the minimum in a 2-0 LCU win.
OPSU is seeking to end a 14-game losing streak. The Aggies are 3-30 overall and 2-12 in conference play. Lucas Ogaz leads the series for OPSU with a .625 (5-for-8) average. They are hitting .271 as a team in the series. Zack Tingen is slated to start on the hill for the Aggies. The New Mexico Military Institute transfer is 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA. He has never faced the Chaps.
The Chaps are 42-4 overall and 14-2 away from Hays Field against the Aggies all-time. The last win for OPSU came on Feb. 27, 1999, as LCU has won the prior 11 meetings.
