• LCU was without their Captain defender
Kate O'Gara and Newman took advantage with the game's first three goals and all in the opening half. Paige Thompson opened the scoring 13:15 into the game, Erin Mink followed with a goal 20:14 later (33:29) and Rosa Urista-Chico scored with 1:12 remaining in the half for a 3-0 halftime lead.
• The Lady Chaps registered their first goal with the penalty kick conversion by Knesek in the 62
nd minute, but Newman extended the lead back to a three-goal cushion in the 75
th minute with a goal by Morgan Foster.
• LCU attempted a late surge, with
Hollie Windham and Ledford (penalty kick) scoring goals 2:43 apart. Ledford's goal came with 3:20 remaining.
GAME NOTES
• The shutout was LCU's 38
th shutout overall in program history. Palmer, who claimed the franchise single season shutout mark, topped
Lauren Story's 2013 and 2014 single season program record for shutouts by a goalkeeper (7).
• LCU, in their second year of postseason eligibility in Heartland Conference postseason play, clinched their second Heartland Conference Tournament berth. With one regular season game remaining, LCU and St. Mary's are each tied with 22 standing points and each traded a pair of 1-1 ties in their regular season series. LCU is at Newman Saturday, while St. Edward's hosts St. Mary's. St. Edward's has the top seed locked and will host the tournament in Austin, Texas (Nov. 3-5
th) opening with facing the No.4 seed, while No.2-seed Dallas Baptist awaits the No.3 seed.
• Knesek's goal was her 11th goal of the season and all 11 have come in conference play. The freshman entered the game leading the conference in goals and points. She ends the regular season with 11 goals and 29 points in conference play. Jennifer Boudreau (St. Edward's) was the next closest player with 18 points in conference play.
• The penalty kick by Knesek was her second attempt and successful conversion on the season, and Ledford was successful on her first attempt of the season and of her career. The two attempts marks LCU with 18 penalty kick attempts in program history and their (sixth this season). LCU is now 16-of-18 as a team in program history in PKs.
• The Lady Chaps move to 24-11-4 all-time in Heartland Conference games and 10-8-2 all-time in Heartland Conference road games.
• With the loss, LCU is 3-3-3 on the road this season and are 19-21-4 all-time on the road under head coach
Alex Denning. Overall all-time, LCU is 29-31-6 on the road. The loss ended LCU's streak of five unbeaten road games (2-0-3).
• The win for Newman marked their first ever win over LCU, as LCU had won the prior four meetings.

Lubbock Christian (8-4-5, 6-4-4) heads to Austin, Texas Thursday for an 11 a.m. start to the Heartland Conference Tournament (hosted by St. Edward's), where they will face No.2-seed Dallas Baptist (10-5-3, 10-2-2). LCU went 0-1-1 this season against DBU, falling 1-0 in Dallas (Sept. 17) and playing to a 1-1 draw in Lubbock on Oct. 20.
