LCU Gets Consecutive Straight Set Wins For The First Time This Season

Lubbock Christian University extended their season high win-streak to four matches, claiming a 3-0 straight set win over Texas Permian-Basin. It marks consecutive straight-set wins for the first time this season. LCU was lead by Lauren Zoller, who had a match high 11 kills. UTPBs Sarah Vasquez led all players with 15 digs.
 
How It Happened
 
Set One:
Neither team had more than a three-point lead until LCU went on a 10-3 run and took a 19-10 lead. LCU ended up winning the set 25-15. LCU had a 16-9 advantage in kills during the set. Lauren Zoller led LCU with five kills in the set. LCUs Kelsie French also had eight digs.
 
Set Two:
The second set consisted of five lead changes. The score was never tied past 9-9. LCU went on a 6-1 run, with a pair of kills by Ariel Froeschl giving LCU some breathing room with a 15-10 lead. LCU scored the final six points to claim the set 25-15. LCU had a .385 attack percentage in the set, with 12 kills and two errors on 26 attempts. Four of the kills were by Zoller. UTPBs Caitlyn Guajardo had four of her team leading nine kills
 
Set Three:
Emily Hanaway had the first of four aces in the set for the Lady Chaps to put them up 2-1 and they never trailed the rest of the way. Highlighting the final set, was a 10-2 LCU run to put them up 17-8. They won the set 25-18. Neither team was in the positive in attack percentage and the two teams combined for 16 attack errors.
 
Inside the Numbers:
.400 – Lauren Zoller produced her 11 kills on 25 attempts with just one error, leading to a .400 attack percentage.
9 – LCU matched a season high with nine aces in the match. Six different Lady Chaps had at least one ace.
.047 – LCU, who entered the match leading the conference holding the opposition to a .133 attack percentage, held UTPB to a .047 attack percentage. It is the fourth time this season LCU has held an opponent below a .100 attack percentage on the season.

The Lady Chaps, who went 5-1 in their homestand, plays their next three games on the road beginning Thursday in Austin, Texas facing St. Edward's for a Heartland Conference contest.
