How It Happened
Set One:
There were three lead changes in this set. DBU's Alexa Lezak produced the match's first point for the Patriots, but LCU's
Christiana Tavo responded sparking a 10-1 run with a kill early in this set. From that point on, the Lady Chaps never lost their lead and went on to a 25-13 victory.
Set Two:
LCU got out to a quick start in the second set thanks to a service error by DBU's Alex Lezak.
Emily Hanaway's kill to put the Lady Chaps up 2-1 early in the set provided a lead that LCU never relinquished the rest of the set. LCU capitalized on a .304 attack percentage to lead the Lady Chaps to a 25-14 set victory.
Set Three:
Mallory Powell had two of her four aces in the final set to put the Lady Chaps up 5-3. However, DBU began to rally off of a block by Thelma Flores. The Patriots then went on a 7-1 run to take the lead at 10-6. A service error by the Patriots provided a spark for LCU to erase the deficit and take the lead with a 5-0 run. The Lady Chaps scored five of the last six points to earn the set victory 25-19.
