Lady Chaps travel to the Land of Enchantment to wrap up month-long road trip

PORTALES, N.M. (March 1, 2016) – Lubbock Christian University softball defeated Regis on January 31st in Lubbock, and the Lady Chaps have since have traveled to San Antonio, Canyon, Grand Prairie and Austin. After over 2,500 miles logged they will conclude their 21-game road trip with a doubleheader against the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in Portales on Tuesday with game one starting at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time.

 
FAMILIAR FACE
The Greyhounds have a new skipper at the helm. Katie Welborn, who spent the previous two seasons as the Lady Chaps' Assistant Coach, has taken the reigns and has her team off to an 8-10 start with wins over No. 12 St. Mary's and Midwestern State.

 
FAMILIAR FOE
The Lady Chaps have faced ENMU sixteen times. LCU has been victorious in each of those contests with six wins coming in Portales at the Greyhound Softball Field.

 
TEAM LEADERS
Morgan Colburn leads the Lady Chaps in almost every offensive category including batting average (.424), hits (28), runs-batted-in (29), runs scored (26), total bases (68), walks (16), home runs (11) and slugging percentage (1.030). Lindzi Clemmer leads the team in stolen bases with 10. In the circle, Katera Eltsosie sits atop the list with the lowest earned-run-average (2.24), most wins (10), innings pitched (76.1), strike outs (65) and opposing batting average (.171)

 
LAST MEETING
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (February 19, 2016) – Morgan Colburn homered twice to help lead Lubbock Christian University to three victories on day one of the North Texas Bash in Grand Prairie on Friday. LCU won the first game, 6-5, over Eastern New Mexico, took game two, 11-4, over Texas – Permian Basin and game three, 10-5, over Bethany (Kan.).
 
 
MULTIPLE HITS
Three Lady Chaps (13-5) had multiple hits versus Eastern New Mexico (5-5) led by Colburn who went two-for-three with three runs-batted-in. One of Colburn's hits in the game was her first homer of the day and fourth of the season. Sammie Murrietta also had two hits on the day including her third home run of the year. Senior Katlin Reed had two hits as well.

 
ON THE BOARD EARLY
LCU jumped on the scoreboard quickly in game one with Lindzi Clemmer leading off the game with a hit, then stealing second for her sixth stolen base of the year. Two batters later Colburn hit her bomb to put LCU up 2-0 after one. ENMU would get their only runs in the third after two Greyhound batters were hit by pitches before Morgan Green doubled to right centerfield to bring them both home. The Lady Chaps would add one more in the bottom of the third and three in fifth to wrap up their scoring.

 
IN THE CIRCLE
Katera Eltsosie (7-2) went the distance in game one to notch her seventh victory of the year. She struck out five, allowing two runs off three hits while hitting two batters. For ENMU, Aja Secheslingloff (4-2) suffered her second loss of the year, allowing six runs on nine hits while striking out six Lady Chaps.
