Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas (March 24, 2016) –
Lindzi Clemmer drove in half of the Lady Chaps' runs on the day to lead LCU to a 5-1 and 5-4 Heartland Conference sweep of Oklahoma Christian at PlainsCapital Park Thursday.
CLEMMER
The Lady Eagles (14-18) got on the board early with their leadoff batter, Sheridan Bond, hitting the fifth pitch of the game over the center field fence. No more runs would be scored until the bottom of the fifth inning when with two outs and runners at second and third Clemmer hit a ball to right-center field to drive in
Sammie Murrietta and
Katlin Reed and put the Lady Chaps (32-7) up 2-1. LCU would get three more runs in the sixth two of which came off the bat of
Liz Torres who doubled over the head of the right fielder plating
Morgan Colburn and
Molly Davison. The other run came when Reed hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to score pinch runner
Baylee Goolsby.`
ELTSOSIE
Katera Eltsosie (17-3) got the start for LCU and went the distance giving up only three hits striking out seven Lady Eagles garnering her 17th win of the 2016 season. For OC Madison Hagood (9-7) started the game going the first five and one-third innings to suffer her seventh loss of the year. Hagood allowed five runs on six hits walking three Lady Chaps. Madison Nordyke came in to get the last two outs allowing one hit and striking out one.
MORE CLEMMER
LCU scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning when Clemmer doubled to drive in Murrietta. The Lady Eagles responded by scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning off a three-run home run by Kelsie Finch. The Lady Chaps came right back in the bottom half of the fourth two came off the two-rum bomb by
Liz Torres and the other two came when Clemmer once again came through in the clutch hitting a triple over the OC left fielder to score Reed and
Sydney Beuthien. The Lady Eagles would get one additional run in the top of the seventh before the game ended with the go-ahead run on first base and the tying-run at second base getting picked off to end the game.
HOLMES
Katlyn Holmes (13-2) started game two for LCU and went six and two-thirds innings allowing ony five hits striking out two OC batters to notch her 13th victory of the year. Eltsosie came in to get the final out of the game to earn her third save of the season. For the Lady Eagles Kaylie Upton got the start going three innings allowing three runs before passing off to Nordyke (1-7) who closed out the final three innings allowing two runs and giving up three walks.
