How It Happened
Set One:
The match opened with a first set, which featured four lead changes and the score tied on seven occasions. Neither team had a more than a three-point lead until WTAMU turned a 16-15 deficit into a 25-18 set win with a 10-2 run to end the set. Six different Lady Buffs had at least two digs in the set, as they completed the set with 23. They also out-hit the Lady Chaps 14-11, with Selena Batiste leading with four kills.
Channing Stewart,
Jaiden Kennedy and
Lauren Zoller each co-led LCU with three kills.
Set Two:
LCU would like to have another go at the second set. They led as much as 18-11 and never trailed until a 3-0 run capped a 14-5 rally by WTAMU for a 25-23 set win. Michaela Montgomery produced six kills in the set and also provided five digs. WTAMU had a 17-13 advantage in kills in the set. Zoller led LCU with four kills in the set.
Set Three:
Allowing the second set slip away took the wind out of the sails for LCU. WTAMU jumped out to a 6-1 advantage in the third set and led 13-5 before LCU attempted to crawl back. Zoller produced a kill to cut the deficit to 15-11, but it would be as close as LCU would get to WTAMU, who led throughout in the set. Kamile Jones led all players in the set with four kills for WTAMU. Zoller led LCU in the set with three kills. Chandler Vogel had eight digs in the set to complete the match with 20 for WTAMU.
