Senior Stewart Leads Lady Chaps on Senior Day

Stewart Produces 16 Kills and .448 Attack Percentage in Straight-Set Win

Highlights
Lubbock Christian University played their final home match of the regular season and completed their Senior Day send-off with a 3-0 straight set win over Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon inside Rip Griffin Center. LCU produced 43 kills in the three-set match, with 16 by Channing Stewart. They also received 31 assists from Brynn Warnack and 30 digs from Kelsie French. Warnack added 12 digs to complete a double-double performance. She was not alone in the match, as TAMIU receive a double-double performance from Leah McManus (14 digs, 10 kills).
 
How It Happened
  
Set One:
The first set featured four lead changes and LCU having to bounce back from an early 9-5 deficit with a 7-0 run that followed an LCU timeout. Jaiden Kennedy produced a pair of kills for LCU during the run. The 7-0 run was part of an eventual 12-3 LCU scoring surge to help them claim the set 25-19. Kennedy led LCU with four kills in the set, and Brynn Warnack contributed 12 assists. Kelsie French provided defensively for LCU with 11 digs.   
 
Set Two:
LCU jumped out again early in the set, scoring 10 of the first 15 points before following with a 9-4 run for a 19-9 lead. They cruised to a 25-13 set win behind five kills from Channing Stewart. LCU had an 11-5 advantage in kills in the set, with TAMIU receiving four of their five kills from Leah McManus. French added 12 digs in the set.  
 
Set Three:
Like the opening set, the third set produced four lead changes. LCU trailed as much as 24-20 following a 6-2 TAMIU run to break a 18-18 tie. The Lady Chaps were able to fight off four set-point serves and closed the set on a 6-0 run, capped by a Emily Hanaway kill, to clinch the match in straight sets with a 26-24 set win. Stewart exploded with eight kills in the set. LCU produced 19 kills in the set.
 
Inside the Numbers:
.448 – Channing Stewart produced an attack percentage of .448, marking the best attack percentage by a Lady Chap (with at least 12 kills) this season.
3-8 – The Lady Chaps improved to 3-8 in matches ending in three sets.  Two of the three wins have occurred at home.
5-1 –For a second consecutive season, LCU completed their home slate with less than two conference losses at home. LCU went 6-5 at home this season overall and 5-1 in conference play at home.
13-0 – LCU improved to 13-0 all-time against TAMIU in the head-to-head series.
19 – LCU produced 19 kills in the third set, matching a season high for kills in a set. They last completed the task on Oct. 21 vs. Arkansas Fort Smith.
1,867 – With 30 digs, Kelsie French improved her career numbers to 1,867 digs with LCU. She is now 20 digs away from passing Nikki Ralston (1,886) and moving into fifth all-time on LCU's all-time career digs list.

LCU closes out their regular season with a pair of matches on the road, beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. in Dallas, Texas facing Dallas Baptist for a Heartland Conference match.
