KEEP IT GOING
Alyssa Hanks and Annika Schwartzenberg have each garnered a hit in every game this season. Along with those two, Beuthien, Lindzi Clemmer and Medina have all successfully reached base in all six games this year.

LAST GAME RECAP
LUBBOCK, Texas (February 8, 2017) – Three Lubbock Christian University pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout and Annika Schwartzenberg's inside-the-park home run helped the Lady Chaparrals pull out a 2-0 victory over Colorado Christian at PlainsCapital Park on Wednesday.

LCU (6-0) only managed to score two runs in the contest, with each coming with two outs in the inning. In the second inning, pinch hitter Haley Hardison drew a bases-loaded walk to get the Lady Chaps on the board. In the second inning, Schwartzenberg, the freshman first baseman from Amarillo, Texas, lined a shot through the right side that went all the way to the corner, allowing Schwartzenberg to make the round trip for an inside-the-park home run and the final run scored in the contest.

Three Lady Chaps took part in the action in the circle for LCU to secure the shutout. Katera Eltsosie (2-0) got the start and went three innings, allowing the only hit of the game from Colorado Christian (4-3). Eltsosie struck out four on her way to her second victory of the season. Monique Garcia pitched the next two innings, striking out another two before Katlyn Holmes came in to finish out the last two innings facing the minimum. She struck out two securing her second save of the year.

Even though Lubbock Christian only managed five hits off the Cougars, both Schwartzenberg and Alyssa Hanks kept their hit-streaks alive as both have hit successfully in all six games this season. In addition to those two, Courtney Medina, Lindzi Clemmer and Sydney Beuthien have all successfully reached base in all six games this year.

LCU head coach Daren Hays is one-up on little brother Shanon. The meeting marked the first time the two brothers have faced each other in a regular season game. Shanon, who was the first ever coach at LCU and coached the 2008 NAIA National Championship squad before heading to coach Texas Tech, is in his first season coaching Colorado Christian, who are off to a 4-3 start.

TEXAS WOMAN'S
TWU holds the all-time advantage 2-1

PREVIOUS MEETING
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 5, 2016) – Three Lubbock Christian University errors and clutch hitting by Texas Woman's downed Lady Chap softball 12-4 in five innings during the opening game of the South Central Regional Tournament at The Softball Stadium inside The Park at St. Mary's Thursday in San Antonio.

Lubbock Christian (45-14) had three errors in the first two innings, which led to an early deficit. Sydney Beuthien had a two-run bomb in the second inning that tied the game up but the Lady Chaps could only muster two more runs in the contest. Texas Woman's (33-22) scored another 10 runs after LCU tied the game scoring seven in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lubbock Christian managed only three hits in the game with Ashton Bell and Molly Davison getting the other two hits. The final two runs plated by LCU were both off of bases-loaded walks.

Kelsey Hoppel got the start in the circle for the LCU and threw the first three innings allowing five runs off of four hits while striking out two Pioneers to suffer her first loss of the year. Katera Eltsosie came in to pitch the final inning allowing and seven runs off of six hits in relief. Halley Dixon started for TWU going three and two-thirds innings allowing four runs off of three hits and walking three Lady Chaps to earn her ninth victory of the season. Tori Bice threw the last inning and a third while not giving up a hit to notch her second save of 2016.

TARLETON STATE
All-time series tied 3-3

PREVIOUS MEETING
CANYON, Texas (February 14, 2016) - LCU fell to No.10 TSU 6-2 at the WT Invitational.

The TexAnns started Haley Freyman and LCU managed 10 hits against Freyman. Three Lady Chap errors in the third inning led to five unearned runs scoring, proving to be more than LCU could overcome. Lady Chap ace, Katera Eltsosie (6-2), went the distance against the TexAnns by giving up five hits and a single earned run.
