Lady Chaps Host TexAnns for Midweek Matchup

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 18, 2017) –Tuesday, the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals will host the TexAnns of Tarleton State University in their final home games of the regular season. The first game of the midweek doubleheader is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. at PlainsCapital Park on the LCU campus.

The Lady Chaps are hitting .327 as a team, led by Sydney Beuthien (.392). She also leads the team in slugging percentage (.746), runs-batted-in (46), total bases (97) and home runs (12). Alyssa Hanks and Beuthien co-lead the team with 10 doubles each. Courtney Medina leads the Lady Chaps in stolen bases with 33 total. In the circle, Katera Eltsosie leads LCU with a 14-5 record and a 2.39 earned run average, as well as with the most innings pitched (105.1). Katlyn Holmes is tops on the team with five saves this season.
 
TSU
The TexAnns are hitting .326 as a team. They are led by Nyka Wood who is hitting .400 with a .615 slugging percentage. Wood and teammate Megan Durante each have four home runs to lead Tarleton. Wood also leads the team in runs-batted-in with 55. Maddie Quintanar is first on the team in hits with 57 and leads the team in stolen bases as well with 25. The TexAnns arrive in the Hub City coming off a three game, Lone Star conference sweep at the hands of Texas Woman's University.
 
PREVIOUS MEETING
STEPHENVILLE, Texas (March 7, 2017) – Four errors on the day by the No. 22 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals led to a 1-0 and 3-2 loss to Tarleton State at the TSU Softball Complex in Stephenville Tuesday.
 
In game one, the Lady Chaps (16-6) managed only one hit to go along with one error getting blanked by the TexAnns (16-10) who managed to push across a run in the third inning. Katera Eltsosie (8-2) went the distance in the circle for LCU, allowing only four hits and striking out four to suffer her second loss of the season. For TSU, Haley Freyman (9-4) pitched all seven innings only allowing one hit on way to her ninth victory of the year. Roxy Curiel had LCU's lone hit.
 
In the second game, Lubbock Christian scored two runs in the game with the first coming in the fourth inning as Sydney Beuthien drove in Courtney Medina to tie the game at 1-1. In the fifth inning, LCU would take the 2-1 lead as Medina singled to left field to bring home Averi Miller. The momentum would totally change in the sixth inning, as a Lady Chap error helped the TexAnns plate two more runs to take the lead back. Monique Garcia (6-4) pitched the whole game, allowing three runs off eight hits, while striking out three batters, for her fourth loss this season. Jordan Withrow started in the circle for TSU. In five innings, she gave up two runs on three hits before giving way to Kayleigh Wiliams, who pitched the sixth inning. Freyman pitched the seventh inning and claimed her third save of the year.
