SAN ANGELO, Texas (May 12, 2017) – No. 8-seed Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals look to avoid elimination Friday facing No. 5-seed Cameron at Mayer Field, where first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. If the Lady Chaps win, they will turn around and immediately face the loser of the Angelo State and Colorado Mesa 1:00 p.m. matchup. A loss to Cameron would bring a close to the 2017 season. LCU is 0-3 all-time in NCAA postseasaon play and looks for their program's first NCAA postseason win.

LAST GAME – Late Homer Ends LCU's Upset Bid Over No.1 Nationally Ranked Angelo State
SAN ANGELO, Texas (May 11, 2017) – No.8-seed Lubbock Christian University fell to No. 1 Angelo State 4-3 at Mayer Field Thursday to open play in the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.

In the second inning, Angelo State's (53-5) Madison Greenwell hit a slow roller, perfectly between the pitcher and first baseman, allowing Rambelle pinch runner Jacqueline Montejano to score and put ASU up 1-0. The Lady Chaps (39-18) responded with two runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead, beginning with an Addison Ard double to centerfield to score Sydney Beuthien. It was followed immediately by a Lindzi Clemmer double to plate Ard. Amanda Ramage drove in Taegan Kirk and Danae Bina in the fifth inning, allowing the Rambelles to re-take the lead at 3-2. Beuthien hit a bomb over the left field fence to leadoff the sixth inning and tie the game at 3-3. LCU's hopes of upsetting the tournament host and top-seed were erased in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Kenedy Urbany hit a shot over the same spot as Beuthien's homer to give Angelo State the lead back for good.

Katera Eltsosie (21-6) started in the circle for Lubbock Christian, going the distance and allowing four runs off four hits. She walked six Rambelles and hit three more to suffer her sixth loss of the year. Brandy Marlett got the start for Angelo State, going 4.1 innings and yielding two runs on four hits. She struck out four batters before giving way to Kenedy Urbany (19-1), who pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing one run off two hits. Urbany notched her 19th victory this season.

CAMERON
The Aggies enter the South Central Regional hitting .291 as a team. Cameron has three players with double-digit home runs ranked 22nd in the nation (as a team) with .90 home runs per game. The Aggies are led in the circle by Bethany Hines, who has 25 wins this season and a 3.25 Earned Run Average. The two teams have only faced each other one other time, a 4-2 Aggie win on February 19, 2013 at the North Texas Bash in Mansfield, Texas.

PRIOR MEETING
MANSFIELD, Texas (February 19, 2015) – The Mansfield North Texas Softball Bash did not begin in Lubbock Christian's favor on Thursday as the Lady Chaps were defeated by Midwestern State, 8-2, and Cameron, 4-2, at James McKnight Park East.

Against the Aggies (8-2), Ashton Bell made her start in the circle by way of fanning the first CU batters. Three Lady Chap singles by Katlin ReedFaith Koria and Bell in the top of the third loaded the bases for LCU, but the team was unable to turn in any runners, keeping the game scoreless.

A bunt by Carly Allerheiligen finally began some offense for the Aggies, and a single and wild pitch plated two more batters before a double down the right field line by Chelsea DeLong put Cameron on top, 2-0.

LCU neutralized the score in the top of the fourth on home run number two from Liz Torres before CU's Lauren Renneker retaliated with a bomb of her own to give the Aggies a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

A double by Bell in the fifth was the final scoring opportunity for the Lady Chaps, as LCU was only able to produce one more hit before the conclusion of the day.

Bell (1-2) took the loss after totaling seven strikeouts.
