Lubbock Christian University collected their first road win and their first swing of consecutive wins on the season with a 3-1 victory over Texas Permian Basin. It was LCU's 15
th consecutive win over UTPB (37-4 all-time). LCU had to overcome a Falcons squad that produced three individuals collecting double-doubles with a 19-kill performance from
Emily Hanaway. Caitlyn Guajardo (15 kills, 10 digs), Kiera Granado (46 assists, 10 digs) and Jordan Will (13 kills, 12 digs) each had double-double performances in the losing effort for UTPB.
How It Happened
Set One:
The two squads were locked up 5-5 early in the match before LCU went up 7-6 and followed with a 5-0 run. The run was part of an eventual 8-2 run for a 15-8 lead.
Leah Roberson had two kills on two attempts and
Jaiden Kennedy produced three to help LCU take the lead, which nearly slipped away. UTPB had a 7-0 run to tie the set 15-15.
Lauren Zoller had a kill to end the streak and helped LCU regain their lead. Zoller's kill led to a 5-1 run, only to open the door for another UTPB rally to tie the set 22-22.
Emily Hanaway had five kills in the set for LCU, and her final one in the set allowed LCU to regain the lead and they won the set 25-22 despite six kills in the set by UTPB's Caitlyn Guajardo.
Set Two:
The Lady Chaps had to play from behind in the second set after UTPB opened the set with a 7-1 lead. Three straight kills by Zoller allowed LCU to go on a 5-1 run and they crawled back with two (8-6). UTPB scored six of the next eight points to get the lead back, which was eventually built to a 17-11 advantage for the Falcons. A trio of Falcon attack errors and two kills by Kennedy led to a 6-1 LCU run to tie the set at 18-18. The set was tied 20-20 before LCU closed the set on a 5-1 run, which included the final four points, to win the set 25-21. Hanaway had a kill and a pair of aces during the final run. Zoller led LCU with six kills, while Jordan Williams led UTPB with five kills.
Set Three:
Each team had a combination of errors (attack and fielding) early on, but there was no separation on the scoreboard until a 6-0 UTPB run put them up 16-10. A kill by Roberson helped pull LCU within two points (21-19), but UTPB closed the set on a 4-1 run to win the set 25-20. Rachel Dixon (5) and Guajardo (4) combined for nine kills for UTPB.
Set Four:
There were seven lead changes and th e score tied on five occasions in the fourth set. With the score tied 12-12, LCU continued a 6-0 run, with four of the six points coming off kills from Hanaway. The Falcons cut LCU's down to one (20-19) with a 6-2 run, but LCU responded with a match-clinching 6-1 run for a 25-19 set win. LCU produced a .387 attack percentage in the set, with Hanaway collecting six kills in the set.
Inside the Numbers:
.228 – Since Friday evening's program low attack mark of -.092 (worst single-game mark on file), LCU has bounced back with their best marks of the season. Saturday, LCU produced a mark of .210 and Tuesday, they improved the mark to .228.

Emily Hanaway engineered a season high 19 kills, which ranks tied as the second most in her LCU career. She had a .341 attack percentage, which is her best in matches she produced at least 15 kills.

Cory Jo Martin had a season-high mark of 41 assists (second highest in her career) for her third career game of over 40 assists. She completed her second career double-double adding 10 digs.
