How It Happened
Set One:
LCU came out early and benefited off three Tarleton errors to take a 5-2 lead. The Lady Chaps would hold the lead until a 7-6 lead slipped away off a TSU run that had them close out the set on a 16-5 scoring advantage to take the set 25-14. Hailey Roberts (5), Hannah McManus (4) and Alexis Applewhite (4) combined for 13 kills for TSU in the set. LCU was led by three kills from
Avery Moore.
Set Two:
Like the opening set, LCU had the initial lead, leading 4-3 after a kill by
Hannah Thomas. LCU trailed 7-6 before TSU went on an 11-1 run for an 18-7 lead. They cruised to win the set 25-11. Adriana Darthuy of TSU led all players in the set with five kills.
Set Three:
The final set had the same verse, with LCU leading 7-6 before the TexAnns would flex their muscle. With the score tied 7-7, TSU used an 8-3 run to take a 15-10 lead. A combo-block by LCU's
Camille Porco and
Cory Jo Martin helped LCU get within 18-16, but the TexAnns pulled away and eventually closed the set with four unanswered points to take the set 25-19. Roberts hammered seven kills in the set for TSU. Zoller led LCU with three kills in the set.
