How It Happened

Set One:
The two squads were neck in neck the opening 29 points, as they were tied as late as 10-10 and TAMIU led 15-14 after the 29th point. TAMIU sealed the set with 6-2 run to end the set for a 25-20 set win. The Dustdevils had 15 kills in the set, with four by Leah McManus. Emily Hanaway led LCU with three kills.

Set Two:
The second set was the most intensive set in the match. There were six lead changes and the score was locked on 10 occassions and as late as 19-19. LCU was able to pull away with five straight serves from Lauren Zoller, supported by a pair of kills from Hanaway, as LCU won the set 25-21 on the 6-2 run. Hanaway completed the set with five kills. After 15 kills in the opening set, TAMIU was held to seven kills (six of the seven were by three each from Shirey Panebi and Megan Unrath).

Set Three:
Another evenly played set, the third set was decided late after the score was tied 18-18. A string of five straight points were decided by an attack error or bad set and LCU was leading 21-20. Zoller broke the string with a kill for a 22-20 LCU lead. Hanaway ahd two kills down the stretch and LCU claimed the set 25-22. Hanaway and Avery Moore led LCU with three kills in the set.

Set Four:
LCU had their smoothest set in the third set with a .360 attack percentage, three aces and two blocks during the set. LCU led big (9-3) early off the aid of a pair of aces by Kelsie French and a pair of kills by Porco. LCU had a 7-1 run, part of a 13-4 span to end the match, and LCU won the set 25-12. Porco led LCU in the set with four kills off four attack attempts. French had 10 digs to go along with her two aces.

Inside the Numbers:
