FORT SMITH, Ark. (October 11, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals put a 10-match win streak to the test on the road, as they begin a four-match road trip Thursday facing UAFS (Arkansas - Fort Smith). LCU is alone in first place in the Heartland Conference (4-0) and riding their longest win streak since an 11-match win streak in 2011. LCU's week consists of three matches. They went five sets with Texas-Permian Basin Tuesday and will face UAFS Thursday before wrapping up the week Saturday afternoon in Wichita, Kan facing Newman.

- The Lady Chaps and UAFS will meet for the 13th all-time meeting and for the first time with LCU coming off a victory in the prior meeting. UAFS and LCU split (1-1) last season's regular season series, and the Lions are 11-1 all-time against LCU. UAFS defeated LCU 3-1 on Sept. 21 in Fort Smith, but LCU was able to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit Oct. 21 in Lubbock for a 3-2 win to end UAFS's 43-match conference win streak.
- UAFS was preseason picked first in the Heartland Conference. They went 26-7 last season, with an 11-1 mark in conference play. St. Mary's upset the Lions in the Heartland Conference Tournament and they did not qualify for the regional tournament.
- The Lions are 14-8 this season (4-1 in conference), with a 4-2 home record inside Stubblefield Center. Saturday, they fell 3-1 to St. Mary's which bumped them out of first place for the first time since November of 2011.
- In their prior four matches, UAFS has had three different players lead their team in assists. Erin Black led them in a 3-0 victory over Newman Tuesday, while Taylor Stoops led them Saturday (vs. StMU) and last Thursday (vs. Texas A&M International) and Laryssa Correa led them on Oct. 2 against Southern Nazarene. Stoops is second in the conference in assists (635) and assists per set (8.36) behind LCU's
Bradi Marshall.
- Anna Demmer is UAFS's go-to, ranking 18
th nationally with a conference-leading 875 attacks (10.9 per set, which ranks 43
rd nationally and leads the conference). Despite the high amounts of attempts, Demmer is second on the squad (third in the conference) in kills per set (3.26) behind Debra Rogers, who has a 3.31 mark per set and ranks second in the conference behind LCU's
Lauren Zoller.
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 14-6 record into the contest and they are 5-2 in true road games this season. They are currently on a 10-match win streak, which is their best since an 11-match win streak in September of 2011. LCU has won 30 of their last 33 sets played, and their 10-match active win streak is tied for the 13
th longest active streak in NCAA Div. II.
- LCU is 4-0 in conference play this season, which is their best conference start since 2014. LCU has never opened Heartland Conference play with a 5-0 mark.
- Serving aces has developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. Aces per set (1.54) and total aces (105) are the only team statistical category LCU leads in the Heartland Conference.
Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.48 (28
th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 36
th nationally with 32 aces this season.

Bradi Marshall leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 43
rd nationally with a conference-leading 10.52 assists per set, which ranks eighth among all freshmen. Marshall leads the team in double-doubles this season with eight, with double-doubles in four of her prior five matches (has completed the task in all four Heartland Conference matches this season). She is coming off a career-high 59-assist performance Tuesday (3-2 win over UAFS), which was the highest individual total by a Lady Chap since Oct. 16, 2014.

Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (6.07) and enters Thursday ranking 12th nationally in the category. French is 22
nd nationally in total digs (413) and her career mark of 2,384 ranks third among NCAA Division II active career leaders. She is the two-time reigning Heartland Conference Defensive player of the Week, which is an honor she has received four times this season.

Lauren Zoller leads the Heartland Conference in kills per set (3.43) and points per set (3.85). Her rate in conference play in kills per set is 3.83.
