Former Shallowater Head Coach Rejoins Tyler Neal After Four State Titles Together at Trinity Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas (February 4, 2026) — Lubbock Christian University volleyball head coach Tyler Neal has announced the addition of Levi Savage to his staff as assistant coach, reuniting two coaches who previously worked together during a championship run at Trinity Christian School.

Savage joins the Lady Chaparrals after serving as head volleyball coach at Shallowater High School since July 2022, where he also worked in physical education and administration while building a program centered on culture, accountability and competitive excellence.

Under his direction, Shallowater earned a No. 1 state ranking in 2025 and advanced to a regional final in 2024.

Neal and Savage were previously paired at Trinity Christian from 2013 to 2018, a stretch that produced four TAPPS state championships (2014–17) across 4A and 5A classifications. The duo helped establish Trinity Christian as one of the state's premier programs while assisting numerous student-athletes through the collegiate recruiting process.

"I am extremely excited that Levi will be joining our coaching staff at LCU," Neal said. "Levi has a proven history of helping programs move from good to great on the volleyball court, and his genuine love and care for his athletes truly set him apart. When we coached together at Trinity, we often dreamed about leading a college program side by side — and now here we are. God is good!"

Savage brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the high school and middle school levels, including three seasons as head coach at All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock, where he maintained consecutive winning seasons and implemented a unified volleyball system from middle school through high school. He also earned Avalanche-Journal Coach of the Year honors in 2021 and Hub City Preps Coach of the Year recognition in 2020. His peak moment at All Saints was leading the 2021 program to a TAPPS 2A State Title.

Savage is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in human sciences and also holds an associate degree in general studies from South Plains College. He was a member of the academic dean's list at both institutions.

Savage's ties to Lubbock Christian run deep, as his wife, Haley (Fowler) Savage, is a former Lady Chaps women's basketball standout and was a member of LCU's historic 2015–16 NCAA Division II National Championship team. The couple enjoy their time with kids Brooks and Trent.

The addition of Savage completes Neal's inaugural coaching staff as the Lady Chaparrals prepare for the upcoming volleyball season.
