Highlights
Lubbock Christian University longest win streak since 2008 came to a screeching halt Thursday, as LCU was swept in straight sets 3-0 at St. Edward's. LCU's 12-match win streak ended along with their best conference start since a 12-0 Sooner Athletic Conference campaign in 2007. The Lady Chaps had won 18 consecutive sets in conference play until Thursday. LCU received a double-double (37 assists, 15 digs) from Bradi Marshall and a combined 23 kills from Lauren Zoller (12) and Ashley Vanfleet (11), but it was not enough to stop Melissa McNeil, who was solid for SEU with a double-double consisting of 11 kills, 12 digs and a .500 attack mark. The meeting was the third meeting of the season between the two programs (the second of two conference matches).

How It Happened

Set One:
The Hilltoppers set the tone early, jumping out to a 5-1 lead to start the match. LCU responded with a 5-2 run to cut the deficit to 8-6 before SEU regained the momentum with a 6-1 run paced by a pair of kills from Alexa McAndrew. The set was full of momentum shifts, as a kill by Ashley Vanfleet jumpstarted an 8-2 run by the Lady Chaps. Four different Lady Chaps had at least a kill in the run, with Morgan Schwarz leading the charge with a pair to tie the set 14-14. McAndrew led all players in the set with five kills and three were registered during an 8-3 run to close the set with a 25-19 win for the 'Toppers. SEU was limited to three errors in the set, leading to a .289 kill percentage in the set.

Set Two:
The second set opened with the same pace, and that was with SEU opening on a 3-0 advantage. Julia Hartley had consecutive aces for the first two points. Just as quick as LCU tied the set at 3-3, the Hilltoppers answered back with a 4-0 run for a 7-3 advantage. From the time SEU led 10-7, the lead never expanded past a three-point margin.  LCU was able to tie the set 16-16 on a combo block by Jaiden Kennedy and Schwarz. It was one of nine ties in the set. A kill by Vanfleet, followed by an ace from Kennedy provided LCU a 19-18 lead. LCU led 23-21 after a kill from Lauren Zoller, but SEU closed the set on a 5-1 run to win the set 26-24. McAndrew produced another five-kill set for SEU. LCU lost the set despite 17 kills and a .267 attack mark in the set. Zoller led LCU with five kills in the set.

Set Three:
The final set was filled with nine lead changes and the score tied 15 times. SEU never led by more than two points in the set and LCU was unable to hold onto a series of three-point leads. LCU witnessed a 22-19 lead disappear, along with any thoughts of a comeback, as SEU closed the match on a 6-0 run, with two of the points coming on kills from Mikayla Parker. Included was her final kill to claim the set 25-22. Melissa McNeal led the SEU charge in the set with five kills (on 10 attempts). Zoller led LCU in the set with five kills. The Lady Chaps had 4.0 team blocks in the set.

Inside the Numbers:
6-1 – LCU's two-match lead in the standings took a hit, as St. Mary's defeated Arkansas-Ft. Smith. Thursday to improve to 5-2 on the season. LCU's conference record of 6-1 is their best seven-match start in Heartland Conference play since a 6-1 record through seven matches to begin their 2014 Heartland Conference schedule (they went 9-1 through the first 10 games of conference play in 2014).

14-6 – The meeting between LCU and SEU was the 20th all-time meeting and the sixth win in the all-time series by SEU, who had last won on Oct. 6, 2016. LCU had won 14 of the prior 15 meetings against SEU before Thursday's meeting.

.228 – SEU had a hitting percentage of .228. It marked the first time a conference opponent had hit over .200 against LCU this season. Along with their 12-match win streak, LCU had not allowed a team to hit over .200 against them in the entire stretch. Washburn was the last opponent to hit over .200 against LCU (LCU's last loss, which Sept. 8).

8 – LCU produced eight blocks in the match, with Morgan Schwarz, Lauren Zoller and Jaiden Kennedy each notching four. It is the sixth time this season LCU has had at least 8.0 blocks in a three-set match (17th time since 2008 in which they have had at least 8.0 blocks in a three-set match).

0-6 – LCU lost the head-to-head statistic in serving aces, as SEU had a 4-2 advantage in the category.  LCU has lost all six matches this season (0-6) in which their opponent has had a higher amount of serving aces in the match.

11-2 – The Lady Chaps fell to 11-2 this season when leading a match in blocks (8.0 – 5.0) and 11-2 this season when leading in digs (56-55), as it was only their second loss of the season when leading each category.

12 – LCU's 12-match win streak, which was their longest since 2008, was fun while it lasted. The Lady Chaps had won 36 of 39 sets played during the stretch. They are now 12-5 this season in straight-set matches.

10 – Bradi Marshall's double-double was her team-leading 10th double-double this season. She has double-doubles in five of LCU's seven conference matches this season.
