Lubbock Christian University extended their home win streak to eight matches in thrilling fashion Tuesday night, as they used 71 kills and 115 digs to outlast West Texas A&M 3-2 inside Rip Griffin Center.
Ashley Vanfleet (26 kills and 27.5 points),

Klaire Torrez (four aces) and
McKaley Johnson (30 digs) had career high performances and each helped the Lady Chaps defeat West Texas A&M inside Rip Griffin Center for the first time since Oct. 20, 2008. The match was LCU's final non-conference match and they moved to 11-6 against non-conference. The match included a rollercoaster of 13 lead changes and the score knotted up on 25 occasions.
How It Happened
Set One:
Teams opened the match on the attack, as there was a string nine consecutive points produced off kills. The stretch was part of a trend that witnessed 21 of 25 points produced off kills. LCU had seven of the nine kills for points in over the first stretch of consecutive kills to take a 11-7 lead. They led 20-12 at the conclusion of the 25-point stretch. LCU went on to win the set 25-21. The Lady Chaps had 17 kills in the set (15 by assisted by
Bradi Marshall), with
Ashley Vanfleet leading the squad with five kills in the set.
Set Two:
West Texas A&M responded with 19 kills in the second set. They used a 10-2 run to take a 17-14 advantage, before LCU answered with a slight 8-5 advantage to tie the set at 22-22. Selena Batiste claimed kills over the final three WT points to win the set 25-23. She finished with eight kills in the set.
Avery Moore and Vanfleet each co-led LCU with five. Chandler Vogel led WT with 11 digs.
Set Three:
Vanfleet had four kills early during a 5-1 stretch to lead early at 9-5. The teams traded points until a 6-1 LCU run led to a 24-16 lead. The Lady Chaps claimed the set 25-18. Vanfleet produced eight kills in the set (half of LCU's 16 kills in the set). Destiny Jones led WT in the frame with five kills.
Set Four:
LCU fell in a hole early, as WT opened the set on a 7-2 run.
Lauren Zoller opened an 8-1 LCU surge with a kill to turn a 15-9 deficit into a 17-16 lead.
Klaire Torrez notched a pair of aces during the run. LCU led 23-21 before WT closed the set on a 5-1 run to deny LCU a point on match-point-serve and force a fifth set with a 26-24 set win. Vanfleet had another five kills in the set. Each team had 16 kills.
Set Five:
Neither team had more than a 2-0 run in the final set, but LCU was able to pull away from a 9-7 lead with a 6-3 run for a 15-10 set win. LCU hit .286 in the set, with Zoller and Vanfleet each recording three kills.

Bradi Marshall had a career high 64 assists, marking the second highest single-match individual assist total since 15-year head coach
Jennifer Lawrence took the helm at LCU. Erin Fisher had 66 assists on Nov. 7, 2013 (vs. Texas Permian Basin). The 64 assists ties as the 13
th most this season in a NCAA Division II match and the highest marking produced this season by a freshman.
3-1 – The Lady Chaps improved to 3-1 in five-set matches with the win and it is their third consecutive win in matches that reach a fifth set.
10 – LCU won it's 10
th all-time match in the head-to-head series (10-30-1), which has been dominated by WTAMU (30-10-1). The win was LCU's first in the series in Lubbock since Oct. 20, 2008.
10.0 – LCU produced 10.0 blocks in the match, with

Avery Moore co-leading the Lady Chaps with five. It is the 12th time this season LCU has had at least 8.0 blocks in a match this season and they have completed the task in their last five matches.

th double-double this season. She has double-doubles in eight of LCU's 10 conference matches this season.

Ashley Vanfleet's career high 26 kills ties as the second highest single-game mark by a Lady Chaps member since Lawrence took over the program. Kacey Deterding was the last player to have a higher mark, as she recorded 27 on Nov. 5, 2013.
27.5 – Vanfleet recorded 27.5 points Tuesday, which ties as the second highest total since 2008.
Emily Hanaway was the last player to do it, posting 27.5 at Tarleton state on Sept. 8, 2016.
71 – The Lady Chaps notched a season high 71 kills, which is the most since recording 75 on Oct. 16, 2014 against Newman.
115 – LCU posted a season high 115 digs, which is the most since posting 125 against Newman on Oct. 16, 2014.
