LUBBOCK, Texas (October 3, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals play their first conference home matches of the season this week, hosting DBU (Dallas Baptist University) Thursday and St. Edward's University Saturday inside Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Chaps enter the game winners of seven straight victories. They are 2-0 in the Heartland Conference play this season and they join Arkansas-Fort Smith as the only two unbeaten teams in the conference. Thursday opens a three-match homestand for the Lady Chaps.

- The Lady Chaps hold a staggering 33-4 all-time record against the Patriots. LCU opened the all-time series winning the first 23 meetings dating back to 1983. DBU won final meeting last season 3-1 (Nov. 2, 2017), ending a streak of four consecutive wins by LCU. The Lady Chaps defeated DBU 3-0 on Sept.13 in a non-conference match to win five the prior six meetings.
- DBU was preseason picked sixth in the Heartland Conference. They went 10-16 last season, with a 5-7 mark in conference play. They are 8-12 overall this season and 1-2 in conference play
- The Patriots are 1-7 in their last eight matches, with an 0-6 mark on the road. They have lost their last eight road matches dating back to last season.
- DBU ranks 66th nationally in blocks per set with a mark of 2.04 (second in the conference). Katie Nicholson leads the conference in blocks (69) and ranks third in the conference with 0.97 blocks per set.
- The Heartland Conference has three teams in the top-21 nationally in total digs and the Pats rank third in the conference and 21
st nationally with a total of 1,262.
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes an 11-6 record into the contest and they are 2-2 at home this season. They are currently on a seven-match win streak, which is their best since an 11-match win streak in September of 2011. They have won 21 of their last 22 sets played.
- LCU went 5-1 in home conference matches last season and are 30-6 (83.3%) all-time at home in Heartland Conference play.
- Serving aces have developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. Aces per set (1.60) and total aces (91) are the only team statistical category LCU leads in the Heartland Conference.
Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.53 (18
th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 38
th nationally with 29 aces this season.

Bradi Marshall is the reigning Heartland Conference Setter of the Week. She leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 55th nationally with 10.28 assists per set, which ranks ninth among all freshmen. Marshall did her part with a pair of double-doubles in wins over St. Mary's and Texas A&M International. She posted 41 assists in a 3-0 win over StMU, which was a three-match high this season. Marshall had 15 digs to complete the double-double in the match. Saturday at TAMIU, she had 29 assists and 10 digs, including 11 assists and five digs in the third set, for her team-leading sixth double-double of the season. Along with a pace of 11.7 assists per set, she also had four kills, three blocks and two aces. Marshall's honor was her second player of the week award this season.

Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (5.9) and entered the week ranking 13th nationally in the category. French is 48
th nationally in total digs (340) and her career mark of 2,311 ranks second among NCAA Division II active career leaders. She is the reigning Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week. French led LCU with 44 digs in six sets (7.33 digs/set) on the week. LCU produced 81 digs Thursday at StMU, which was their highest for a three-set match since 2016, with French leading the way with 25. She followed with 19 digs at TAMIU. With 2,311 career digs, she is seven digs away from moving into third place on the Heartland Conference's all-time digs list. This honor for French marked her third weekly award this season and the seventh of her career.

Ashley Vanfleet has led the Lady Chaps in kills in each of the prior two matches. She combined for 25 kills in the two matches, pacing for 4.17 per set. Vanfleet posted 14 kills and three blocks in their win at St. Mary's. She followed with 11 kills and a .450 attack percentage at TAMIU Saturday. Her total kills on the week came on a .258 attack percentage. Vanfleet's success has her ranked sixth in the conference in kills per set (2.82).
- LCU's six losses this season (accounting for all their losses this season) have come against programs that have combined for a current record of 85-22 (80.2%). They do not have a loss to a sub-.500 team this season.
