– The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps host No.10 West Texas A&M Tuesday night at PlainsCapital Park at 6:00 p.m.
LCU LEADERS
The Lady Chaps enter the contest with an overall record of 9-4 following a league doubleheader split with Oklahoma Christian on Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City. LCU is 6-1 at the friendly confines of PlainsCapital Park winning their last four home contests with the only loss coming to Midwestern State on opening weekend. Head Coach
Daren Hays, in his eighth season at the helm of the Lady Chaps, has accumulated an overall record of 332-86-7 (78.1%). The Lady Chaps are hitting .280 as a team, led by
Megan Darling (.412).
Lindzi Clemmer leads the team in runs scored (13), hits (18) and total bases (4). Clemmer is tied for the team lead in home runs (7) with
Morgan Dufour. Dufour leads the team in slugging percentage (1.000) and runs batted in (18).
Courtney Medina leads the Lady Chaps in stolen bases with 8 total. In the circle,
Monique Francois leads LCU with a 6-1 record and a 2.28 earned run average. She also holds the most innings pitched (43) and most strikeouts (41) while opponents are only hitting .228 against her. The Lady Chaps return home after splitting a Heartland Conference doubleheader this past Sunday against Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City.

The Lady Buffs boast a roster of four All-Americans and eight returners. Shayne Starkey leads the Lady Buffs hitting .516. Kylee Moore leads the team in home runs (8), slugging percentage (1.162) and runs batted in (21). Kourtney Coveney leads WT with an impressive 0.00 earned run average while Kilee Halbert leads the team in wins (6), appearances (6), innings pitched (35) and strikeouts (33). Head Coach Candace Abrams enters her first season at the helm of the Lady Buffs following three years as the program's assistant.

The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 11-7 with the first meeting coming in the Lady Chaps inaugural season in 2008. The Lady Buffs are 5-4 all-time at PlainsCapital Park.

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 20, 2016) – Three home runs from No. 1 West Texas A&M proved too much for Lubbock Christian University softball Wednesday leading to the first Lady Chap loss at PlainsCapital on the season.
A solo home run by Brittany Gehle in the third inning, another solo shot by Brittany Cruz in the fourth and a grand slam home run in fifth by Andrea Sitter cause the Lady Chaps (39-12) to fall at home for the first time this year. The Lady Buffs (46-2) also got a run in the third when Shayne Starkey singled up the middle.
Lindzi Clemmer went 2-for-4, while the only other hits came from
Ashton Bell, Katera Eltsosie and
Katlin Reed.
Eltsosie (19-6) started in the circle for LCU and went five innings giving up seven runs off eight hits, striking out three Lady Buffs while walking six, suffering her sixth loss this season.
Katlyn Holmes came in to pitch the last two innings not allowing any runs while striking out three. Kilee Halbert (20-1) got the start for WT going the distance allowing only five hits on her way to her 20th victory of the year.
NFCA DIV-II TOP-25 POLL
The South Central Region was represented in the NFCA D-II top 25 by Colorado Mesa (3rd), Angelo State (5th), WT (T-10th), Cameron (21st), Texas A&M-Commerce (T-25th), Tarleton State (RV) and St. Mary's (RV).
