PREVIOUS MEETING
Wichita, Kansas (March 25, 2017) – Sydney Beuthien's 3-run home run in game two helped the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps salvage a doubleheader split with the Newman Jets at the Newman Softball Field in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday.

The first batter of the game, Courtney Medina, homered down the right field line and a bases-loaded shot through the right side from Annika Schwartzenberg plated Adelae Vayas to put LCU (21-11) up 2-0 after the first inning of play. Newman (8-27) would score one run in the third inning and two more in the fourth inning to take the lead 3-2.

The Lady Chaps came back in the top of the fifth inning Alyssa Hanks drove in Beuthien to tie the game. However, the Jets added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take back the lead.

Monique Garcia started in the circle for LCU and pitched 3.2 innings allowing three runs on three hits while walking three before giving way to Katlyn Holmes (4-1) pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits to suffer her first loss of the season. Kate Smith (2-10) went the distance for the Jets giving up only three runs on seven hits while striking out three Lady Chaps on her way to her second victory of the year.

Once again the Lady Chaps jump on top early plating a run in the first inning with Hanks driving a ball to center field to bring home Beuthien and give LCU the 1-0 lead. The Jets scored two in the second inning to take the lead before the Lady Chaps tied the game back 2-2 in the fifth inning when Hanks doubled to score Shelby Welch.

With Medina drawing a walk then stealing second base then third base followed by an infield single from Casey Ingram to put runners at the corners Beuthien hit a 3-run rocket over the left field fence to put the Lady Chaps up 5-2.

Katera Eltsosie (10-4) started in the circle for the Lady Chaps and went the distance allowing only two runs off five hits and striking out four Jets to notch her 10th victory of the year. Jensen Cromer (4-13) gave up five runs on 13 hits while walking six Lady Chaps for her 13th loss of the season.
