Lady Chaps Head North to Face Hillcats

CLAREMORE, Okla. (April 19, 2018)  The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals head to Claremore, Okla. to face Rogers State in a Heartland Conference three-game series with a doubleheader Thursday starting at 3 p.m. and the final game set for Friday at noon at Diamond Sports Complex.
 
LCU LEADERS
The Lady Chaps enter the contest with an overall record of 27-11 and 0.5 games out of first place in the conference. LCU is 7-7 this season away from PlainsCapital Park. The Lady Chaps lead the Heartland Conference hitting .290 as a team, led by K'leigh Arredondo (.383). Lindzi Clemmer leads the team in hits (45), triples (3), total bases (89) and runs batted in (39) wile sitting second in home runs with 10. Morgan Dufour leads the team and the Heartland Conference in home runs with 15, which sits her eighth in the nation. Dufour also leads the conference and the Lady Chaps in slugging percentage (.835). Courtney Medinaleads the Lady Chaps and the Heartland Conference in stolen bases with 21 total. In the circle, Monique Francois leads the conference as well as LCU with 20 victories (6th in the nation). Francois also leads the Heartland and Lady Chaps shutouts (6, 14th most in the nation) and strikeouts (116) while boasting a 1.71 earned run average. She also holds the most innings pitched (143.2) with opponents only hitting .200 against her. The Lady Chaps hit the road after sweeping the three game series against Oklahoma Christian this past weekend in Lubbock.
 
ABOUT RSU
The Hillcats are 15-5 at Diamond Sports Complex this year. RSU is sitting third in the conference hitting .267 as a team, led by Allie McFetridge who is hitting .354 with 51 hits. Danelle Day leads the team in runs batted in (50), total bases (97) and home runs (15). In the circle, Rogers State is led by Tailee Reding with a 1.39 earned run average and 8-4 record. Alex Brake leads the Hillcats with 12 victories, 100 strikeouts and 117.12 innings pitched. RSU returns home after sweeping Northeastern State in a midweek non-conference double header Tuesday.

THE SERIES vs. RSU
The Lady Chaps first faced the Hillcats on March 28, 2008 as NAIA Sooner Athletic Conference members losing 4-3 in nine innings. LCU has since won 24 of the prior 26 meetings.

PREVIOUS MEETING
LUBBOCK, Texas (March 13, 2018) – KK Lopez-Liu's walk-off hit in game one lifts the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals to a 2-1 victory over Rogers State before falling 6-0 in game two at PlainsCapital Park on Tuesday.
 
The Lady Chaps (14-9, 5-6) got on the scoreboard first with a Lindzi Clemmer bomb over the centerfield fence in the second inning. Allie McFetridge drove in Merissa Smith in the sixth inning for Rogers State (23-5, 8-1) to even up the score. In the bottom of the seventh inning Morgan Dufour hit a triple down the right field line before the Hillcats intentionally walked Lindzi Clemmer and Annika Schwartzenberg to load the bases. Pinch hitter Kealohiokeanuenue "KK" Lopez-Liu hit a ball to right field to score Dufour and give the Lady Chaps the win.
 
Monique Francois started in the circle for LCU throwing all seven innings allowing one run off two hits striking out 13 Hillcats for her ninth victory this year. Alex Brake got the start for RSU throwing 5.1 innings allowing one run on two hits before giving way to Tailee Reding (7-1) threw an inning of relief giving up one run on two hits to suffer her first loss of the season.
 
The Hillcats plated two runs in the third inning and one in the sixth inning before adding three insurance runs in the seventh inning to go up 6-0. The Lady Chaps could only muster three hits in the game.
 
Amber Carlton (3-2) started for LCU in game two pitching five innings allowing three runs on four hits to fall for the second time in 2018. Taylor Hinojos pitched 1.1 innings in relief giving up another three runs on four hits before Clarissa Martinez pitched the final 0.2 innings not allowing any hits striking out one Hillcat. Andrea Morales (8-3) got the start for Rogers State going the distance for the complete game shutout victory, her eighth win of the year.
