Highlights
For a fourth consecutive day on their playing calendar, the Lady Chaparrals of Lubbock Christian University split play. Saturday, they opened with a victory over Fort Lewis College before falling to Truman State. LCU moves to 4-4 with the split of action.
How It Happened
Fort Lewis Match
Set One:
LCU had a solid start, opening with a 7-1 run, with three of the kills from
Lauren Zoller. The Lady Chaps produced 17 kills in the set and kept their distance to claim a 25-20 set win. Zoller led LCU with six kills in the set. Haley Christiansen had a solid set for FLC with six kills.
Set Two:
The Lady Chaps benefited from 16 kills and a .282 attack percentage in the second set to cruise 25-15. LCU closed the set on a 10-5 run. Zoller continued her hot hand with seven kills and libero
Kelsie French had nine of LCU's 25 digs in the set.
Set Three:
FLC had a 4-2 lead and it was the only time they led in the entire match. It did not last long, as LCU responded with an 8-1 run for a 10-5 lead. They held on to win the set 25-19 to win the match 3-0.
Kelsie French produced 14 digs and
Ashley Vanfleet led LCU with four kills in the set.
Inside the Numbers:
3-0 – The straight set 3-0 win was LCU's second of the season.LCU was 3-8 in matches decided in straight sets last season.
12.3 –
Bradi Marshall averaged 12.3 assists per set and finished with 37.
15 – Zoller just missed a double-double as she had 15 kills and nine digs.
27 – French led all players with 27 digs and the mark is a season high for the senior libero.
1-2 – LCU's win was their first ever over FLC. The two programs had not faced each other since 1995.
Truman State Game
Set One:
Truman's success over LCU started early, as they opened on an 11-3 advantage. Their success of their 25-12 set win stemmed from a .464 attack percentage and 14 kills. Jocelynn Livingston led Truman State with five kills and was one of five players with at least two kills.
Avery Moore and
Ashley Vanfleet each had three kills to co-lead LCU.
Set Two:
Moore had another three kills in the second set and LCU led as much as 21-17 before squandering the lead away. The Lady Chaps then mixed in five attack errors, which TSU converted into an 8-2 run to win the set 25-23.
Set Three:
Truman came out of the gates in the third set with a 14-5 run. The team had a .444 attack percentage on 14 kills. Ellie Kaat posted five kills in the set for TSU. LCU was held to five kills and Vanfleet had three of them in the 25-10 set win by TSU.

1-The meeting was the first ever meeting the two programs.
22 – For a second time this season (in eight matches), LCU was held under 25 kills. It is the second fewest behind a 21 kill outing on Aug. 24 in their season opener against Rockhurst. LCU was held to less than 25 kills only once last season.
.308 – Truman State posted a .319 attack percentage, which was a season high by an LCU opponent and the highest since Tarleton State produced a mark of .351 on Sept. 29, 2017.
8 – Vanfleet led LCU with eight kills. Ellie Kaat led TSU with 10.
