LCU Soccer Field – Lubbock, Texas

LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • The Lady Chaps earned the right to host a qurterfinal game in the LSC Championships by finishing third in the league standings with a 10-2-1 record and 31 points
  • LCU forward Haley Knesek led the conference during the regular season with 31 points, scoring a caree-high 12 goals and adding in a team-second seven assists
  • Lubbock Christian set a new program record this last Saturday, winning their 13th game of the season. The previous record was 12, set in 2012, which was Alex Denning's first year
  • The Lady Chaps earned their eighth shutout of the season last weekend against Eastern New Mexico and have now lowered their goals against average for the season to .89
  • Midfielder Allison Scott finished a close second behind teammate Knesek in the league's point standings with 29 and was five points ahead of the player in third

PROTECTING THEIR TURF
It just took a finish in the top seven spots in the league for Lubbock Christian to reach the Lone Star Conference Championship, but earning one of the top four spots is a big benefit for the Lady Chaps, who have been at their best when they play on their own field this season. In nine home games this season, LCU has just one loss. The Lady Chaps have averaged 2.25 goals per game at home during the regular season and allowed a measly .62 per game from their opponents. LCU also averages 23 shots per game at the LCU Soccer Field, compared to just six from opponents. Scott has been the best player at home, collecting 14 of her 29 points there with six goals and two assists. LCU's only loss at home this season came against No. 18 Dallas Baptist.

SEVENTH HEAVEN
Following the two victories this last weekend over West Texas A&M (3-2) and Eastern New Mexico (3-0), LCU has now stretched its win streak to seven straight games. The streak is longer than the six-straight that the Lady Chaps rattled off earlier this season and is their longest since the 2014 season when they were winners in seven straight from September 25 to October 20. The last time Lubbock Christian won more than seven games in a row was 2012, when the team started off the season 12-0 before ever taking a loss. Prior to the start of this seven-game win streak, LCU tied 1-1 with St. Edward's, meaning their last loss was at the hands of Tuesday's opponent Angelo State on October 10.

EASY AS 1, 2, 3
Scoring three goals in each of their last four games, Lubbock Christian now leads the conference with an average of 2.53 goals per game. In four games this season, they have scored exactly two goals. In another eight, they have scored three or more goals. In all 12 of those contests, the Lady Chaps have been the winners. Their only win this season when scoring less than two goals was against St. Mary's on October 17. Amazingly, LCU has not lost or even tied a game in which they scored two or more goals since October 29, 2016, when they fell to Newman 3-4 in Wichita, Kansas.

SHOT STOPPERS
LCU's defense has also performed well this season, and especially during the seven-game win streak. The back line has now tallied eight shutouts during the year, five of which have come in the last seven games, which has helped the Lady Chaps lower their goals against average to .89 for the year. If that average holds for the remainder of the season, it will set a new LCU program record, breaking the previous record of .90 set in 2017. Shadiana Haney has played the most minutes of any LCU defender with 1488, while goalkeeper Hannah Wise has done her part with 51 saves on 150 shots faced.

SCOUTING THE BELLES
  • Angelo State is the reigning LSC tournament champion and has qualified for the tournament each of the last nine seasons
  • Lubbock native Avery McNeme is ASU's points leader with 20, having scored five goals and recorded a league-leading 10 assists
  • The Belles beat St. Edward's 2-1 in their most recent game, handing the Hilltoppers their first LSC loss of the season
  • Goalkeeper Kira Miller has made 59 saves with a 1.03 goals against average in 1,579 minutes of play this season
  • Twelve different Angelo State players have found the back of the net at least one this season

THE SERIES WITH ANGELO STATE
Earlier this season, Lubbock Christian and Angelo State met in an actual game for the first time ever, although the two teams had previously scrimmaged. In the regular season meeting, the Lady Chaps took an early lead on a goal from Allison Scott and held onto it for most of the match. The Belles finally equalized in the 86th minute, forcing overtime where ASU's Trenadey Scott scored the game-winner.
