GOLDEN, Colo. (November 9, 2019) – Lubbock Christian dropped its second straight game to start the season, as the hot-shooting host Colorado School of Mines closed out the LSC/RMAC Challenge by beating LCU 75-47.
Three Chaparral players scored the first points of their LCU careers, with
Ty Caswell putting in eight,
Aamer Muhammad scoring six and
Joshua Davey scoring five, but LCU shot just 28.1 percent from the field overall in a tough offensive night.
Lubbock Christian did start the night well enough offensively, getting a jumper from
Lloyd Daniels and a three-pointer from Caswell to take a brief three-point lead. A seven-point lead from the Orediggers put them on top and they never looked back.
Three straight made shots from behind the arc from CSM pushed the lead to double-digits with just over ten minutes left in the first half. LCU scored only three points in the final 10 minutes of the half on a free throw from
Cameron Copley and a layup from
Rashaan Proctor, and the Orediggers were up by 26 when the two teams went into the locker room.
The second half went much better for the Chaps as they scored 33 points on 35.7 percent shooting, but they were unable to ever close the gap as the Orediggers scored 35. The CSM lead got as wide as 38 points midway through the half, but LCU was able to close it to 28 before the final horn sounded.
