LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
With two outs in the fourth inning and LCU leading 3-0, the Lady Chaps had eight consecutive batters reach base safely.

How it Happened:
  • A bases-loaded single by Morgan Dufour opened the scoring in the first inning.
  • Lindzi Clemmer grounded out with the bases loaded in the second inning to extend the LCU lead to 2-0.
  • Alexis Reed produced her first home run as a member of the Lady Chaps with a solo homer in the third inning to push the LCU lead to 3-0.
  • Two of the first three batters in the bottom of the fourth inning were retired, and the Lady Chaps followed sending nine more batters to the plate. Alivia Villarreal, Darling and Logan Grado each doubled during the string of eight batters reaching safely. Toss in a pair of errors and it led to a seven-run inning for the Lady Chaps.

 Inside the Numbers:
  • Villarreal's two-hit performance helped extend her hit streak eight games. She is the only Lady Chap to have at least one hit in all eight games this season.
  • The game ending in five innings marked their third game (all wins) ending early due to the run rule.
  • Logan Grado has two consecutive pinch-hit appearances leading to base hits.
  • The Lady Chaps were 3-for-4 getting the leadoff batter aboard and 3-for-8 in two-out at-bats.
  • LCU, who have scored at least 10 runs in five games this season, produced their second shutout win of the season. Last season, the Lady Chaps, who did not record their second shutout win until their 10th game of the season, finished with eight shutouts last season.

Up Next:
LCU heads to the Edmond Regional Festival II, co-hosted by Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian, where they will hit the diamond Friday at 3 p.m. facing Southwestern Oklahoma State at Tom Heath Field at Lawson Plaza on the Oklahoma Christian campus. LCU has five games scheduled at the event.
