Lady Chaps Completing Season Series With ENMU, Hosting 'Hounds

LCU Outscored ENMU 23-4 In Previous Doubleheader

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 2, 2019) – Lubbock Christian University closes out a five-game home stand Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico beginning at 3 p.m. at PlainsCapital Park.

LCU and ENMU Series Snapshot
  • LCU leads the all-time series over ENMU, 30-0.
  • The two teams are meeting for a four-game series this season and LCU is 2-0 after sweeping ENMU in Portales, N.M. last Tuesday.

Opening Thoughts

Lubbock Christian posted at least 10 runs in their opening four games of the season (a program first) and have tacked 10 or more runs in 11 of their 24 contests. They have posted at least 20 runs twice this season and posted 23 runs on Feb. 24 (vs. Newman) with a team record 18-run third inning. LCU has two of the top-10 highest scoring games (single team) this season in NCAA Div. II.
  • The Lady Chaps have 22 wins in the circle, with seven claimed in relief. Four different pitchers have received at least one win in relief, with Jordan Wehr leading the team with a 3-1 record in relief. Wehr also has two saves.
  • Megan Darling leads the team at the plate, leading the conference hitting .476, which ranks 19th nationally. LCU has five of the top-eight individual hitters in the Heartland Conference, as Lindzi Clemmer (.454, second), K'leigh Arredondo (.424, third), Alivia Villarreal (.389, fifth) and KK Lopez-Liu (.371, eighth) join Darling.
  • Villarreal ranks tied for fourth in the Heartland Conference in RBI per game (0.97), fifth in RBI (30) and fifth in on-base percentage (.491).
  • Darling ranks 13th nationally in on-base percentage (.564, leads conference), fourth in runs per game (0.96), sixth in the conference in slugging (.603).
  • Lindzi Clemmer leads the team with 49 hits (leads conference and ranks 15th nationally) this season and 19 have been for extra bases (she leads the conference and ranks 12th nationally with 13 doubles). Clemmer ranks third in the conference in triples (3) and is second in the conference in runs scored (37). She is 16th nationally in runs per game (1.19), ranking second in the conference, with Savannah Wysocki ranking seventh nationally with a conference-leading 1.26 runs per game.
  • The statistic of "game-winning RBI" is not an official statistic, but K'leigh Arredondo has five game-winning runs-batted-in. Alivia Villarreal, Savannah Wysocki and Morgan Dufour are each next with three and KK Lopez-Liu, Lindzi Clemmer and Alexis Reed follow with two game-winning RBI of LCU's 22 victories (Megan Darling and Breanna Anderson each have one).
  • LCU did not have a four-hit performance last season. They have had five in 26 games this season, as K'leigh Arredondo produced four hits against Southern Nazarene (Feb. 2), Savannah Wysocki had a four-hit game against Chadron State (Feb. 2) and Newman (Mar. 15), Lindzi Clemmer went 4-for-5 against West Texas A&M (Feb. 10) and KK Lopez-Liu completed the task against St. Edward's (Mar. 19).

  • LCU has a 35-12 advantage in bases-loaded hits against their opponents. The Lady Chaps are hitting .455 with the bases loaded, compared to .308 for their opponents. Alivia Villarreal is 7-for-10 (.700) this season in bases-loaded at-bats and Clemmer is 4-for-5 (.800).
  • Freshman pitcher Taylor Franco ranks third in the conference with three shutouts. She has 91 strikeouts (third in the conference) in 88.1 innings pitched, ranking her third in the conference in strikeouts per seven innings (7.2), which is 50th nationally.
 
How is the Team Doing?
  • LCU is 22-9 this season and 11-6 in the Heartland Conference (sitting in third place in the conference).
