They Meet Again!... This Time To Open Conference Tournament

LCU's Tournament Opener Marks Their First Neutral Site Game This Season

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 2, 2019) – No.4-seed Lubbock Christian University (29-17) opens the 2019 Heartland Conference Softball Championships Thursday facing No.5 Texas A&M International (24-30), marking the fourth consecutive meeting between the two programs, as they closed the regular season with a three-game conference series in Laredo this past weekend.

Lubbock Christian posted at least 10 runs in their opening four games of the season (a program first) and have tacked 10 or more runs in 14 of their 46 contests. They have posted at least 20 runs twice this season and posted 23 runs on Feb. 24 (vs. Newman) with a team record 18-run third inning. LCU has two of the top-15 highest scoring games (single team) this season in NCAA Div. II.
  • The Lady Chaps have 29 wins in the circle, with seven claimed in relief. Four different pitchers have received at least one win in relief, with Jordan Wehr leading the team with a 3-1 record in relief. Wehr also has two saves, co-leading the team with Amber Carlton. LCU leads the conference with five saves.
