November 24 – We take a look at some of the top LCU athletic moments over the years from November 24. Pictured is Scott Whillock, who had 27 points to lead LCU men's basketball past Oklahoma City at the 1989 West Texas State Classic on this date.
Men's Basketball
- Tony Jones scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added in six assists and three steals as Lubbock Christian took down Eastern New Mexico in 1981. Jones was key down the stretch, as the Greyhounds used a press to try and close the gap with the Chaparrals. His passing helped break the press, and he also canned 8-of-9 free throws in the final five minutes.

- Tied with Oklahoma City 20-20 in the first half, Scott Whillock keyed a 12-4 spurt by the Chaps and they never looked back, beating OCU 84-72 in 1989. Whillock led LCU with 27 points as the Chaps won in the opening game of the West Texas State Classic.
- Playing at the 2000 Chap Classic, Lubbock Christian reached the triple-digit mark for one of only two times all season, beating Jarvis Christian College 105-84. James Omondi led with 23 points.
- Rick Henderson scored 22 points and the Chap defense held McMurry to 29.3 percent shooting in 73-43 win over McMurry in 2001.
- Jacob Klockenga scored 18 and Tommy Lane added in 15 as the only two Lubbock Christian players in double-figures, but LCU was still able to pull off a 66-51 win over Sul Ross in 2006.
- The Chaps also took down Sul Ross in 2015, winning 78-56 behind a career-high 21 points from Ridrell Holman, who was also one rebound shy of a double-double.
- Brennen Fowler (27) and Isaac Asrat (24) combined for 51 points and helped the Chaps hold off a comeback attempt by CSU-Pueblo in a 89-79 win at the 2018 Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic hosted by West Texas A&M.
Women's Basketball
- LCU closed the first half on a 17-4 scoring run inside LCU Fieldhouse, which led to a 73-58 win over New Mexico Highlands in 1987. Roberta Ross led LCU with 22 points and seven rebounds, and LCU outscored NMHU 24-10 from the line (LCU was 24-of-30, 80%, from the line).
Bruffey Against ASU
- Mamy N'Kolomoni had 16 points and Natalie Wilson contributed 10 rebounds, as LCU defeated Olivet Nazarene 74-52 at the 2001 Flying Queens Classic in Plainview, Texas.
- The No.15 Lady Chaparrals continued their perfect start to the 2008 season at Rip Griffin Center by defeating Sooner Athletic Conference rival Wayland Baptist 85-63 (put LCU to a 7-0 start to the season). LCU jumped out to a 12-0 lead over WBU by holding the Flying Queens scoreless on 0-for-15 shooting for the first six-and-a-half minutes of the game. The Lady Chaps shot an outstanding 56.7% from the field in the first half and made 4-of-7 three-point attempts to take a 46-33 lead into halftime. Four players scored in double figures for LCU. Brittany Blackmon led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 12-of-16 from the field and collecting 11 rebounds. Jordan Hampton scored 12 points and Ashley Coggins and Sierra Lovorn both chipped in 10 points for the Lady Chaps.
- Freshman Tess Bruffey recorded her second double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and also supplied LCU with seven of their 12 blocks to help LCU to a 71-57 win over Angelo State in nonconference play inside Junell Center in San Angelo.
