Savannah Wysocki each had three-hits Saturday, as LCU had a 13-0 win over Texas-Permian Basin and 10-2 win over Eastern New Mexico in a pair of run-rule five-inning victories in the opening day of play in the LCU Invitational at PlainsCapital Park.

Turning Point:
With two outs in the bottom of the second inning,
Savannah Wysocki hit a 3-2-pitch into left field for an RBI-double. She was the first of an eventual 12 consecutive batters to bat with two outs in the inning.
How it Happened:
- The scoring began in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run hit by Clarissa Martinez for her first home run of the season.
- LCU added nine runs in the bottom of the second inning. All nine runs were scored with two outs, as LCU sent 12 batters to the plate. LCU had six hits in the inning, with Addi Lewis' two-run home run and Angela Donaldson's bases-loaded three-run double highlighting the inning.
- The Lady Chaps final two runs were each recorded with sacrifice flies in a two-run third inning. Jordan Wehr and Valerie Brant had the sac flies.
Inside the Numbers:
- Taylor Franco went 4.0 innings and allowed one hit and struck out six batters to improve to 7-2 on the season. All six of the put-outs of balls put into play were off groundouts (UTPB grounded out eight times in the game and did not fly out).
- LCU improved to 26-0 all-time against UTPB (17-0 in Lubbock).
- Pitcher Jordan Wehr did not toss in the circle, but she did have her second career at-bat and she produced a sacrifice fly. She is now 1-for-1 with three RBI in two career plate appearances. She had a two-run double in her lone plate appearance last season.
- Clarissa Martinez, a second-year Lady Chap, hit her first career home run.
- LCU had eight two-out RBI in the game.
- Of LCU's nine pinch hitters, two (Lauren Singletary and Breanna Anderson) had base hits, two had sacrifice flies, and three recorded walks.
- LCU was 4-for-4 in getting the leadoff batter aboard and 5-for-9 in two-out at-bats.
Game 2 – LCU vs. ENMU
LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
A bang-bang combo of hits in the fourth inning (two-run single by Martinez and a three-run home run by Villarreal) with two outs in the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie. LCU ended up with six runs in the inning.
How it Happened:
- Each team had two runs in the first inning. Mackenzie Shaw homered for a second time this season, which put ENMU up 2-0 in the top of the first inning. In the home half, Wysocki led off with a home run. Angela Davidson hit a double later in the inning to tie the game 2-2.
- A walk and a hit-by-pitch helped place runners on base in the bottom of the fourth inning and LCU took advantage, as Martinez scored a pair with a single and Villarreal followed with a three-run shot.
- Athena Muniz hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and LCU closed the game early with a fielder's choice hit into by Skylar Herrera led to a RBI.
Inside the Numbers:
- Jordan Wehr pitched the complete game (5.0 innings) and allowed two runs off four hits. She improved to 5-0 on the season.
- LCU is now 33-0 all-time against ENMU (15-0 in Lubbock).
- Athena Muniz's sacrifice fly was LCU's third of the day. They entered the day with two on the season.
- LCU had five two-out RBI in the game and had 13 on the afternoon.
- ENMU was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and 1-for-5 with runners on base.
- The game ended in five innings, marking the sixth time an LCU game has resulted in the game ending early this season (eight of LCU's 16 games have ended in the normally scheduled seven innings).
