LEADING OFF
Lubbock Christian will look to avoid being swept for the second straight weekend on Sunday, trying to salvage a win a series they have already lost to the No. 1-ranked Angelo State baseball team. The Chaps dropped game one of the series by just one run, but lost by double-digits in both ends of the Saturday doubleheader. LCU has hit well in the series, batting .313 as a team, including .500 from
George Mendazona and .455 from
Edgar Hernandez, but they have not been able to match the prolific Ram offense.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – It will most likely be a bullpen day for Lubbock Christian, as they throw every arm available at the Rams to try and end their undefeated streak. The first guy on the mound, however, is probably
Shandon Herrera, who has pitched solely out of the bullpen this year. For the season, Herrera has a 5.23 ERA in 10 and a third innings. He has been the second-most frequently used Chap reliever, behind only
Koi Carrillo. Herrera did make one start last season, going 5.0 innings while allowing just two runs on four hits against New Mexico Highlands.
Â
ASU – Josh Barnett will go to the mound for Angelo State, making his fourth start of the year. Barnett is a local product who played high school ball at San Angelo Central. He is 1-0 on the mound this year with a 5.27 ERA in 13 and two thirds innings pitched. He has allowed 13 hits and seven walks but with 15 strikeouts in that time. Barnett's season-high in innings pitched was six in the opening series against Eastern New Mexico.
