Highlights
Lubbock Christian University opened Lone Star Conference play with a 3-1 victory to damper West Texas A&M's season opener. The Lady Chaps were led to the win by Texas A&M Corpus Christi transfer Jenna Lyons, who posted a career-high 17 kills. Lyons was joined in double figures in kills by Sage Post, who had 12 kills and 12 digs for the freshman's first career double-double. WT was supported by a pair of players with double-doubles, as Torrey Miller (18 kills, 12 digs) and Sadie Snay (33 assists, 13 digs) completed the task. They also had 16 kills from Samantha Jordan.

How It Happened

Set One:
The opening set had five lead changes and the score was tied on 13 occasions. The set was tied as late as 16-16 until LCU went on a 4-0 run capped by an ace from Jalee Sims. LCU and WT traded points the rest of the way, resulting in a 25-21 LCU set win. Avery Moore had five kills and a block in the set.

Set Two:
Torrey Miller provided a pair of kills for WT to break an 8-8 tie and give the Lady Buffs an 11-8 lead. A trio of LCU attack errors led to a 5-0 run and WT built the set lead to 18-11. Jenna Lyons had three kills, which was part of a 7-2 LCU surge to cut the deficit to 22-20, but the Lady Buffs closed the set on a 3-0 run to take the set 25-20. Miller provided WT with four kills in the set, while LCU was paced by six kills from Lyons.

Set Three:
Lyons (6) and Sage Post (7) combined for 13 kills in the third set, which witnessed the score locked up 14 times and five lead changes. The set was tied as late as 22-22 before a block by Sage Chain and a pair of kills by Lyons helped LCU close the set on a 3-1 run for the 25-23 set win. WT had a tandem of kill producers as well in the set, as Miller (6) and Samantha Jordan (5) combined for 11 kills.

Set Four:
A trio of early errors in the set allowed LCU to jump out to a 6-2 advantage, but it turned out to be their largest lead in the set. LCU held the lead until a 3-0 WT run tied the set at 16-16. A 3-1 edge by WT allowed the Lady Buffs to take a 21-19 lead. LCU received two kills by Sage Chain to tie the set at 21-21. The Lady Chaps, plagued in the set by five serving errors, had two serving errors with opportunities to extend a one-point lead. Tied 23-23, Lyons produced her 17th kill to put the Lady Chaps ahead 24-23. A ball-handling error by WT gave LCU the clinching match point, as LCU won the set 25-23.
