LCU Aims For Longest Win Streak Since 2018 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 1, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University takes an unbeaten conference and home record into the weekend, as they return home to host Texas A&M International (Friday) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (Saturday) in Lone Star Conference weekend play inside Rip Griffin Center.

TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL | Friday, Oct. 1 | 6 p.m. 
- The Lady Chaps are a perfect 15-0 against the Dustdevils all-time. Eleven (11) of the 15 victories have come in 3-0 sweeps for LCU (six of last seven and three straight meetings).
- TAMIU dropped their last match (3-0 loss at Texas A&M – Kingsville) and will take a 1-9 record into Friday's match against LCU (they are 0-3 in road matches this season). The Dustdevils have a 1-2 mark in Lone Star Conference, which a 3-1 win over Cameron (Sept. 18) for their lone win of the season. The Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll slated TAMIU 11th and they are currently in a share of ninth place.
- The Dustdevils team attacks per set is at 37.4, which ranks eighth in the LSC. It is the only category they rank in the top-10 in conference statistics.
- Mackenzie Catalina is second in the LSC in attacks (413) and third in kills (136), at a rate of 3.78 kills per set to rank fifth in the LSC.
- Maison Kosse averages 9.3 assists per set in LSC competitions, which has her ranked third in the LSC (in conference play).
 
TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE | Saturday, Oct. 2 | 2 p.m. 
- The Lady Chaps and Javelinas first squared off in 1979 and have met eight times all-time (series is tied 4-4).  Of the eight prior meetings, five were neutral site contests. The last three meetings were on-campus meetings, with LCU hosting TAMUK in their previous meeting (3-2 LCU win on Oct. 1, 2019 in which they overcame a 3-0 deficit and had a program record low .012 hitting percentage for a win). LCU is 2-0 against TAMUK in Lubbock.
- TAMUK was preseason picked third in the Lone Star Conference. They went 13-1 last season, with a 12-0 mark in conference play (won the South Division).
- The Javelinas are 8-0 this season (3-0 in conference matches), with a 1-0 record in true road games. They head to Lubbock following a Friday night LSC match at Angelo State (They take a 20-match win streak in regular season games into their meeting at ASU). They enter the week as one of nine NCAA Division II programs with an unbeaten record.
- TAMUK opens the week ranking 27th nationally and second in the LSC in hitting percentage (.250). Kailey Estrada leads the team and is 13th in the LSC with a hitting mark of .295.
- Nicole Murff has served up 15 aces on the season and leads the LSC. (43rd nationally) with 0.56 aces per set. Ayanna Jackson is the next closest teammate in total aces, as she has seven on the season.
 
LADY CHAP NOTES
-LCU enters the week following their first weekend of conference road play, in which they went 2-0 with wins at Cameron (3-0) and Midwestern State (3-1). The Lady Chaps, one of three LSC programs with a 4-0 conference record. If LCU claims a win over TAMIU, they will have their first six-match win streak since a 12-match win streak during the 2018 season.
-LCU's week of action was to begin Tuesday with a non-conference match inside Rip Griffin Center against Wayland Baptist, but the match was rescheduled for Monday, October 25 (non-Covid19 reasons).
-The Lady Chaps went 0-13 in the second set of matches played last season. This season, LCU has won the second set in 11 of their 13 matches (LCU is 8-3 when winning the second set). LCU is 9-0 this season when winning the third set and 7-0 when winning the opening set.  
-Last season, LCU had an attack percentage of .080, which ranked 16th in the LSC. This season, LCU is hitting .237 and ranks fifth in the LSC and 41st nationally. Hannah Froeschl leads LCU in hitting, ranking sixth in the LSC hitting .332. 
- Froeschl averaged 10.5 points per match in road wins over Cameron and Midwestern State last weekend. She hit .375 with seven kills and three blocks in a straight-set win at Cameron, and followed with eight kills and a career-high matching seven blocks in a 12.5-point performance at MSU. In the win at MSU, LCU produced 13.0 blocks, matching the third-highest mark for a four-set match since 2008 and the most on the road since 2011.
- Jalee Sims has posted double-doubles in her past six games (has eight on the season and 18 in her career). She had 29 assists and 13 digs at Cameron and followed with 31 assists and 13 digs at MSU, which included four blocks and four kills for a 7.0-point performance against the Mustangs. Averaged 8.57 assists and 3.71 digs per set last week. She ranks third in the LSC in assists (338) and is fifth in assists per set (7.86).
-With the combination of setter-play by Sims and Kayton Genenbacher, LCU ranks third in the LSC in assists (503) and eighth in assists per set (11.7). LCU's hitting percentage of .237 ranks 41st nationally, which is their highest national ranking in an offensive category.
-The Lady Chaps lead the LSC in conference play in holding opponents to a hitting percentage of .065. LCU has held the opposition to a sub-.100 hitting percentage in three of their four LSC matches.
- Kendall Mahaney ranks third in the LSC in digs (194) and eighth in digs per set (4.5). She has four matches with at least 20 digs on the season and had a career-high 23-dig performance last week at Cameron.
- LCU has limited their opponents to 40 aces this season, which plays out to 0.9 per set and ranks as the second-best mark in the LSC.
- While LCU has served up 50 aces on the season, with aces from 10 different Lady Chaps. Kendall Mahaney and Zoe Parker co-leads LCU with 10 serving aces each. On the error side, LCU opponents have served 70 errors (1.6 per set), while LCU has produced 43 serving errors.
- Aaliyah Gray leads LCU in kills with 119 kills (ninth in the LSC) and was the first Lady Chap to hit the 100-mark on the season. She has 2.90 per set, which has her 13th in the LSC.
