LCU Looks To Bounce Back From First Conference Loss With a Pair of Matches in DFW

DALLAS, Texas (October 15, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University remains on the road in Lone Star Conference play and seeking to rebound from their first conference loss of the season Friday in Dallas against Dallas Baptist University (DBU). The match precedes a Saturday match against Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas to complete the three-match road trip.

- The Lady Chaps hold a staggering 36-4 all-time record against the Patriots. LCU opened the all-time series winning the first 23 meetings dating back to 1983. DBU won final meeting of the 2017 season to mark their latest win in the series, as LCU has won four straight meetings since then (including a 3-2 win on Oct. 20, 2018 in Dallas in their prior meeting in Dallas, where they are 15-3). The last meeting resulted in a 3-2 LCU victory on Nov. 15, 2019 (the last two meetings have gone five sets).
- DBU was preseason picked 13th in the Lone Star Conference, with one first-place vote received. They went 3-10 last season, with a 3-9 mark in conference play. They are in fifth place this season in LSC play, as they are 6-2 in LSC play (8-2 overall).
- The Patriots are 4-1 at home this season. Their previous contest (3-1 loss at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 9) ended a six-match overall win streak. The Pats have had seven matches canceled on the season. Their strength of schedule ranks 286th  (out of 290 programs) in NCAA Division II.
- DBU has a former Texas Tech product on their roster, as Haley Harmon has started in all 10 matches for DBU. She made two starts last season with Texas Tech and was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
- Halee Van Poppel, a Belmont transfer, ranks seventh in the NCAA in kills per set, with a conference-best 4.34 kills per set. She also ranks 15th with a conference-leading 4.68 points per set.

- TWU owns a 5-3 all-time series advantage. The two teams split a 2019 series, as LCU won the opener 3-2 on Nov. 1, 2019, but fell 3-0 to TWU in the Lone Star Conference Championships (Opening Round match) on Nov. 19, 2019. Both matches were at Rip Griffin Center. The four previous meetings have been the only on-campus meetings involving the two schools. The first four meetings were neutral site meetings and played between 1979 and 1988. LCU won the only prior meeting in Denton 3-1 on Sept. 3, 2016.
- TWU was preseason picked to finish ninth in the Lone Star Conference. They went 3-9 overall last season (overall and in conference). They are 7-11 this season and tied for 10th place with a 3-5 record in conference play this season. The Pioneers are 5-4 at home this season, and will host Angelo State Friday prior to facing LCU Saturday.
- The Pioneers rank second in the LSC in serving aces with 99 on the season. Lizzy Reed is fourth in the LSC with 21 perfect serves. Bailey Wozniak averages 0.65 aces per set in conference matches, which leads the LSC (17 total aces in LSC play).
- Sydney Stroh averages 4.45 digs per set, which is eighth in the LSC.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU had their best conference start since 2018 (6-0 start) interrupted Oct. 6 with a 3-0 loss at No.3 Angelo State. The Lady Chaps (10-5 overall) fell to 6-1 in conference and enter the weekend tied for third in the LSC (with West Texas A&M).
-The Lady Chaps loss at Angelo State (Oct. 6) placed them with an 0-3 record against AVCA Top-25 nationally ranked programs this season. LCU had also suffered a 3-1 loss to No.4 Washburn and a 3-0 loss to No.15 Colorado School of Mines (both were on Sept. 10).
-Lubbock Christian is 5-1 in road matches this season, hitting .213 and holding the home teams to a .165 mark in attack percentage. Hannah Froeschl is hitting .322 with 2.57 kills per set on the road. Aaliyah Gray co-leads the team with 54 road kills (matching Froeschl), putting her with a per-set rate of 2.57. LCU has a 22-10 advantage in serving aces on the road. Sage Chain and Froeschl co-lead LCU on the road with 1.00 blocks per set and each have 21 total blocks (Chain leads in solo blocks with two).
-LCU went 0-13 in the second set of matches played last season. This season, LCU has won the second set in 13 of their 16 matches (LCU is 10-3 when winning the second set). LCU is 10-0 this season when winning the third set and 9-0 when winning the opening set.  
-Last season, LCU had an attack percentage of .080, which ranked 16th in the LSC. This season, LCU is hitting .229 and ranks fourth in the LSC and 48th nationally. Hannah Froeschl leads LCU in hitting, ranking ninth in the LSC hitting .302. 
- The Lady Chaps also rank fourth in conference matches, hitting .216 in LSC play. Freshman Kaitlyn Mayo leads LCU in conference play (in hitting percentage) with a hitting percentage of .298 in LSC play, which is eighth in the conference.
- Jalee Sims has seven double-doubles over the past nine matches. She ranks fourth in the LSC in assists (413) and is sixth in assists per set (7.9).
-With the combination of setter-play by Sims and Kayton Genenbacher, LCU ranks eighth in assists per set (11.6). LCU's hitting percentage of .229 ranks 48th nationally, which is their highest national ranking in an offensive category.
-The Lady Chaps rank second in the LSC in conference play in holding opponents to a hitting percentage of .101. LCU has held the opposition to a sub-.100 hitting percentage in four of their seven LSC matches.
- True freshman Kendall Mahaney ranks 10th in the LSC in digs per set (4.37) and 11th in total digs (227). She has four matches with at least 20 digs on the season and her season and career-high mark is a 23-dig performance at Cameron.
- LCU has limited their opponents to 46 aces this season, which plays out to 0.88 per set and ranks as the second-best mark in the LSC (behind Angelo State at 0.56). They have a mark of 0.73 (aces per set) in LSC matches.
- While LCU has served up 60 aces on the season, with aces from 10 different Lady Chaps. Zoe Parker leads LCU with 12 serving aces. On the error side, LCU opponents have served 80 errors (1.5 per set), while LCU has produced 46 serving errors.
- Aaliyah Gray leads LCU in kills with 136 kills (19th in the LSC) and was the first Lady Chap to hit the 100-mark on the season. She has 2.83 per set, which has her 14th in the LSC.
