LADY CHAP NOTES
- Lubbock Christian enters Saturday at 12-13 overall and 8-7 in Lone Star Conference play after strengthening its postseason position with a four-set victory at UT Permian Basin. The Lady Chaparrals climbed into ninth place in the LSC standings, which is the final qualifying position for the nine-team LSC Championships. LCU visits No. 5 Angelo State on Saturday before closing the regular season Nov. 6 at Midwestern State.

- The postseason race remains extremely tight. LCU sits at 8-7, one-half match behind Oklahoma Christian at 8-6 and immediately ahead of Western New Mexico and West Texas A&M, which are both 7-7. Winning its final two matches would give LCU a 10-7 conference finish and guarantee a berth if West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico each lose at least once. A 9-8 finish would keep LCU in contention but require additional help elsewhere.

- Friday's win at UT Permian Basin gave LCU its fourth conference road victory of the season and improved the Lady Chaps to 4-3 in LSC road matches. LCU has now won conference road matches at Sul Ross State, Cameron, Texas Woman's and UTPB. The Lady Chaps are 4-6 in true road matches overall and have won two of the first three contests on their season-ending five-match road trip.

- Camdyn Sears delivered another major performance Friday, producing a career-high 16 kills without an attack error while hitting .400. She added 16 assists, seven digs, two aces and two blocks for her 14th double-double of the season and 37th of her LCU career. Sears has now recorded double-doubles in six of the last eight matches.

-  Sears' offensive development has become one of LCU's biggest late-season storylines. She had never reached double figures in kills before Oct. 16, but has now done so five times over a six-match span. In conference play, Sears is hitting .325 with 93 kills against only 11 attack errors on 252 attempts while also contributing 370 assists, 145 digs and 15 aces.

- Freshman Kayson Reeves continues to anchor LCU at the net. Reeves recorded 11 kills and six block assists at UTPB, giving her 92 total blocks this season while raising her average to 1.10 per set. In conference play, Reeves has 62 total blocks in 52 sets for 1.19 per set and is hitting .296 with 104 kills.

- Friday also produced another strong outing from freshman Shaylee Stevens, who finished with 10 kills and matched her career high with five blocks. Stevens has now reached double figures in kills twice this season and is hitting .308 overall. She has been even more efficient in conference play, hitting .341 with 55 kills in 28 sets.

- Lauren Hanson continued to expand her role in LCU's 6-2 system with 27 assists at UTPB, finishing one shy of her career high. Hanson has now reached 20 assists three times and also contributed seven digs, an ace and the first kill of her collegiate career. She has 115 assists in conference play and averages 2.88 per set against LSC opponents.

- LCU's blocking performance at UTPB was one of its best of the season. The Lady Chaps finished with 13 total blocks, their second-highest total this year and highest on the road since producing 13 at St. Edward's on Nov. 12, 2021. LCU also recorded a season-high 24 block assists, marking its third match this season with at least 20.

- The Lady Chaps enter Saturday with 165 total blocks and average 1.96 per set overall. In conference play, that figure rises to 1.98 blocks per set, and LCU owns a 103-97 advantage in total blocks over LSC opponents. Reeves leads the way, while Tatum Fleitman has 44 total blocks and Stevens has 24 despite playing only 33 sets.

- LCU continues to show stronger offensive efficiency in conference play than its overall numbers indicate. The Lady Chaps are hitting .204 against LSC opponents compared with .180 overall, while averaging 12.17 kills and 11.06 assists per set in league play. Opponents are hitting .198 in conference matches, giving LCU a narrow efficiency advantage despite being out-killed 677-633.

- Serving also remains a positive area in league play. LCU has 86 aces compared with 68 by conference opponents and averages 1.65 per set. Ramsey Clark leads LCU's conference total with 16 aces, while Sears has 15 and Leigh Jespersen has 13 in LSC play.

- The Lady Chaps showed resilience at UTPB after surrendering eight consecutive points to lose the third set 26-24 and then falling behind 5-0 in the fourth. LCU recovered to win the final frame 25-23, with a successful challenge overturning a Sears attack originally ruled out at 23-23 before Sears followed with an ace on match point.

LOOKING AT ASU
- LCU and Angelo State are meeting for the 40th time all-time. ASU went 3-0 against LCU last season, with a pair of postseason wins. ASU, who had a nine-match win streak early in the all-time series, has won the prior 13 meetings and leads the all-time series 30-9. Eight of the last 11 meetings have been played in San Angelo (Nine of the last 12 after Saturday), where the Belles are 16-5 against LCU. The two teams met at the LSC Challenge on Sept. 12, where ASU claimed a 3-1 win.

- No. 5 Angelo State enters Saturday at 24-1 overall and a perfect 14-0 in Lone Star Conference play after sweeping Midwestern State 25-11, 25-21, 25-19 Friday night. The Belles have won 16 consecutive matches and seven straight conference contests without dropping a set. A win over LCU would move ASU to 15-0 in league play and secure at least a share of the LSC regular-season championship. With second-place DBU able to finish no better than 15-2 and ASU owning the head-to-head victory over the Patriots, a win would also secure the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the nine-team LSC Championships.

-  Angelo State continues to produce at an elite level offensively. The Belles are averaging 14.28 kills and 13.16 assists per set while hitting .263 overall, and their production has increased to 14.54 kills and 13.52 assists per set with a .277 attack percentage in conference play. LSC opponents are hitting just .143 against ASU. Julia Hopkins leads the team with 268 kills and is averaging 3.41 per set while hitting .312 in conference matches, while Madi Parrish has 253 kills, 272 digs and a team-high 34 aces.

- The Belles demonstrated their depth again Friday, hitting .364 against Midwestern State while holding the Mustangs to a .112 attack percentage. Hopkins led the way with 14 kills on .429 hitting, Hannah Barnhill had nine kills while hitting .500 and Vivian Parker produced six kills on a .545 clip. Sydney Thornton is hitting .326 for the season with 177 kills and 65 blocks, while Barnhill leads ASU with 67 total blocks. Gabi Ashcraft (449 assists) and Olivia Pena (399) continue to direct the Belles' 6-2 attack.

- Saturday marks the second meeting between LCU and Angelo State this season. ASU won the Sept. 12 non-conference LSC Challenge matchup 3-1 in San Angelo, hitting .299 with 55 kills and nine aces. LCU claimed the second set 25-21 and finished with 10 blocks, but Angelo State controlled the remaining three frames.
