LADY CHAP HEADERS
- Lubbock Christian hosts UT Tyler on at 1 p.m. on Saturday for Senior Day. Six graduating players will be recognized at halftime of the match
- Due to it being fall break for the university, admission to Saturday's Lady Chap match (and the Chap match later that evening) is free
- UT Tyler has allowed an average of 2.22 goals per game, which is the second-worst mark in the Lone Star Conference. They allowed 11 goals in their last two games combined
- LCU opponents have been limited to an average of just 1.10 goals per game this season, which is the fifth-best mark in the league. They have collected four shutouts
- The Lady Chaps have attempted 147 total shots in their first 10 games with 58 of those on goal. Allison Scott leads the team with 12 shots on goal
SENIOR DAY
At halftime of Saturday's match, Lubbock Christian will honor six players who are playing their final season with the team.
Abbey Currie,
Allison Scott,
Dallas Sanders,
Hannah Wise,
Shadiana Haney and
Tegan Wilson will all be recognized for their time with the program. Family members will join the players on the field and they will be given a gift from the coaching staff while they are recognized for their achievements both on and off the field.
SHOOTING STARS
The Lady Chaps enter the weekend ranked in the top half of the conference in shots per game with an average of 14.70. Of those, 39.5 percent (58 total) have been on goal for an average of 5.80 per game. LCU's season-high in shots is 26, which they did against UT Permian Basin on Sept. 29. Scott is the team-leader in individual shots with 27, and her average of 2.70 per game ranks 13
th in the Lone Star Conference.
Makenna Pate is right behind with 23, and four other players have reached double-digits in that category.
FAIR OR FOUL
With more than half of the season gone, Lubbock Christian ranks tied for second in the conference with an average of just 6.40 fouls per game. Only St. Mary's has fewer at exactly 6.0 per game. The most they have had in one game is 11 (vs. Colorado Christian), and their season-low of five has been done five times, including in their most recent game against Texas A&M-Commerce. LCU's four yellow cards this season are also tied for the second-fewest in the league and three of those came in the season-opener against New Mexico Highlands.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
On the 16 goals the Lady Chaps have scored this season, there has been 14 individual assists recorded, and those helpers have been spread pretty evenly throughout the team. LCU's average of 1.56 assists per game is the fifth-best mark in the LSC. Scott leads the team with three, while
Kenley Blevins,
Avery Jennings and
Malena Watzlawik have two each. Another five players have one assist this season. Scott has 18 assists in her career, which ranks as the third-most in program history.
WORD TO THE WISE
Despite back-to-back losses, Lubbock Christian's defense is still allowing an average of just 1.10 goals per game, which is the fifth best mark in the conference. The back line, led by captains
Madison Mayben and
Shadiana Haney, have played a large role in that, and they have been helped immensely by goalkeeper
Hannah Wise. She has made 33 saves this season on 93 shots faced with a save percentage of .805, which ranks third-best in the league. Earlier this season, Wise reached a career milestone by making her 200
th career save.
HOME TURF
The Lady Chaps will be playing their second-straight home game when they take on the Patriots, where they are 2-1-1 this season. The loss to the Lions was their first at the friendly confines this season Including Wednesday's matchup, they have six home games left in the 2021 season. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. The program is 55-24-12 all-time in home contests and has never had a losing record at home under head coach
Alex Denning.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- UT Tyler has lost back-to-back games against the same two opponents the Lady Chaps have lost to, falling 6-0 to Texas A&M Commerce and 5-4 against West Texas A&M. Their last win was 5-0 at UT Permian Basin on Oct. 2
- Faith Adje and Jordan Colbert are tied for the team lead with eight points each. Adje has three goals and two assists, while Colbert has scored four times
- Camri Cecil has handled the majority of the goalkeeping duties for the Patriots, posting a .686 save percentage and 1.78 goals against average in 557 minutes
- UT Tyler is on the opposite end of the spectrum from the Lady Chaps in consideration to fouls per game, where they average 10.11 – the third-highest mark in the league
- Megan Watts anchors the back line with a team-leading 755 minutes played this season
