Highlights
Lubbock Christian University head coach Keith Giboney claimed his 400th coaching victory in a pivotal Lone Star Conference match, as the Lady Chaps overcame a match featuring 14 lead changes to win 3-1 and hold off UT Permian Basin, who would have tied LCU (with a tiebreaker) for fourth place in the LSC standings. The win has LCU remaining in fourth place and a game back of three teams each with one LSC loss. Aaliyah Gray (14) and Jenna Lyons (12) combined for 26 kills for LCU, with Gray also adding four blocks. LCU had 9.0 blocks as a team, with Hannah Froeschl leading the team with 5.0. Jalee Sims, who found out prior to the match that Thursday's game statistics at Western New Mexico were re-statted and she eclipsed 1,000 career assists, had a double-double with 41 assists and 16 digs (four digs less than Kendall Mahaney, who had a team-high 20). Aquincia Strambler had 18 kills (targeted with 51 total attacks) for UTPB to lead all players. They received a pair of double-doubles in the losing cause, as Analise Lucio (48 assists, 18 digs) and Isela Murillo (11 digs, 10 kills) completed the task.

How It Happened

Set One:
LCU trailed by one point on four early occasions of the first set, before UTPB went on a 5-1 lead once leading 6-5 for a 11-6 lead. The Falcons maintained the lead, although LCU battled with a 5-2 run late. UTPB, with a 17-7 advantage in kills in the set, won the set 25-18. Aquincia Strambler led UTPB and all players with six kills in the set. Aaliyah Gray led LCU with three kills.

Set Two:
Lady Chaps had a different look in the second set. Kaitlyn Mayo had a pair of kills to help LCU jump out with a 6-3 advantage. The set turned streaky, as each team then traded off 5-0 runs (made it 11-8 LCU) before UTPB went on a 6-2 run for a 14-13 lead. LCU countered with a 9-3 run and went on to win the set 25-19. Set Three:

UTPB regained the lead with a Taurie Magee block to make it 17-16, only to let it slip away with LCU receiving a kill from Sage Chain to jumpstart a 6-1 LCU run for a 22-18 lead. A replay challenge switched a point and cut LCU's lead to 22-20, but LCU answered with a 3-0 run to win the set 25-20. Gray led all players with five kills in the frame, as Mayo and Lyons each had three. LCU had 13 kills in the set, with all 13 assisted by Sims.
