The schedule does not lighten up Saturday, as No.20 Daemen College serves as LCU's opponent for the final game of the Lady Chap Invitational, scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip.

CHAP NOTES
- > Ashton Duncan leads LCU with 17 three-pointers, averaging 2.8 per game. The 17 three-pointers leads the nation. Duncan, who has scored at least 10 points in five of LCU's six games this season, is leading LCU averaging 13.5 points per game.
- > Allie Schulte claimed the first Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season (the season-opening weekly awards by the LSC included all games played and not just the ones played during the week). Schulte led LCU to a 4-1 start, as they went 3-0 at the DII CCA Tip-Off Classic at the Trailhead in Billings, Montana and 1-1 at the RMAC/LSC Tip-Off Challenge in Lakewood, Colo. She averaged 12.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals a game. She claimed All-Tournament MVP honors at the DII CCA Tip-Off Classic at the Trailhead, which included a season-opening 19 points against Montevallo. At Colorado Christian, Schulte had a season-high five steals and has 13 steals through five games played. The guard from Nazareth, Texas produced double figures in points in four of the five games played.
- > Laynee Burr, who has two performances of at least 18 points this season, is averaging 10.7 points per game to give LCU three players averaging double figures in scoring. A member of the DII CCA Tip-Off Classic at the Trailhead All-Tournament Team selection, Burr entered the week 31st nationally in steals (9) and 51st in assists with 14 on the season (2.8 per game). Burr had five assists Friday to bump her mark to 3.2 assists per game.
- > LCU opened the season making their first 14 free-throw attempts and are 86.8% (92/106) from the free-throw line. From their game against Tampa to their game at CCU, in which they made 13 consecutive free-throws to start the game, LCU made a sequence of 17 consecutive free-throws. They topped that mark Friday, taking a streak of 28 consecutive free-throws made into Saturday's contest. Schulte is 29-of-30 (96.7%) from the free-throw line on the season.
- > Grace Foster has been an impactful true freshman, leading the team in blocks (5) and averaging 4.5 rebounds per game. Foster is averaging 7.3 points a game over the prior four games, which includes a 10-point performance over Tampa for her first career double-digit outing. She led LCU with eight rebounds against Lander.
- > LCU is averaging 8.0 steals (seventh nationally) per game and has a 48-35 advantage over their opponents in the category. Schulte leads the team and the nation with 14, ranking eighth in steals per game (2.3).
FRIDAY FOR THE RECORDS
LCU had a record shooting night at the free-throw line in their win over Lander. They were 30-of-31 for a 96.8% rate from the charity stripe. The mark was not a program record, based on the minimum attempts mark, but if the minimum was 30 attempts, than the 30-of-31 would be the best mark to qualify. LCU made their final 28 consecutive free-throw attempts, which included going 22-of-22 in the second half.
Allie Schulte was successful on all 10 of her free-throw attempts and the 10-of-10 performance matched an LCU Rip Griffin Center record, joining Tabitha Qubty-Seller (10-of-10 vs. Oklahoma Christian on Jan. 18, 2001) and Emily Pool (10-of-10 vs. Newman on Nov. 23, 2013). The LCU single-game record for free-throw percentage is 22-of-22 on Feb. 15, 2018 against Newman, and the individual single-game record for LCU is held by Nicole Hampton (14-of-14 on Jan. 16, 2014).
EYE-OPENING
The 2021-22 season marks LCU's ninth since leaving the NAIA, and heading into Saturday's action, LCU is 219-30 in that span (88.0%). In NCAA postseason play, the Lady Chaps are 20-1 all-time.
OPEN HOUSE
With Friday's victory, the Lady Chaps improved to 18-1 in home openers under head coach
Steve Gomez, and the win was their 10
th consecutive home-opening victory. Their last home opening loss was a 61-44 loss to Metro State on Nov. 5, 2011.
NATIONALLY KNOWN
For the first time in program history, LCU claimed the No.1 spot in the WBCA's National Top-25 Preseason Poll, and for the first time they were the favorites in both the WBCA and D2SIDA preseason polls. With LCU falling Saturday to CSU Pueblo, which ended their 39-game win streak, LCU fell to No.10 in the D2SIDA Top-25 Poll. The WBCA has not released an in-season ranking yet, so LCU remains No.1 in the WBCA poll.
SO ARE SOME OTHERS
LCU is facing No.20 Daemen Saturday, marking their third game of the season against nationally ranked programs. LCU went 6-0 against nationally ranked programs last season and 4-2 in 2019-20 against the nations ranked foes. SWEET HOME (ON) CHICAGO

PRIOR MEETING VS. DAEMEN
COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 23, 2021) – Top-seeded No.1 Lubbock Christian University had a 30-14 scoring advantage in the paint and held No.8-seeded No.15 Daemen College to 32 points from the field, as the Lady Chaparrals advanced in the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight with a 66-49 win inside Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC).
LCU was able avoid any early jitters, jumping out with a 13-3 run with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Madelyn Turner and
Emma Middleton each had consecutive three-pointers during an 8-0 portion of the run. LCU shot 50% from the field in the quarter and held Daemen to 35.7% shooting for a 20-14 lead through the opening 10 minutes.
Both teams defense stepped up in the second quarter and the offense was tossed aside. The two teams combined for six field goals for the entire quarter. Middleton had a pair of field goals and they were part of a 6-0 run, as LCU had three of their four field goals in the quarter scored in a span less than three minutes. The run, which had ended a sequence of nine consecutive field goal attempts for the Lady Chaps, had LCU's lead at 28-19 before a pair of Wildcats free-throws brought the score into the half with LCU leading 28-21.
LCU was 4-of-18 (22.2%) in the quarter, while Daemen was 2-of-11 (18.2), and the quarter shooting woes had both teams shooting under 35% at the half. Caroline White led Daemen and all scorers at the break with 11 points and much of her scoring was a product of six offensive boards leading to a 9-4 scoring advantage in second-chance scoring. Middleton led LCU with nine and helped LCU have a 12-6 scoring advantage in paint scoring.
Middleton scored LCU's first two field goals of the second half, but Katie Titus connected on back-to-back three-pointers and an 8-2 run had LCU's lead dwindle down to a one-possession game (32-29) 3:24 into the third quarter.
An and-one three-point play by
Allie Schulte jump-started a 12-0 LCU run, and the game's separation began at that point, as the run gave LCU a 44-29 lead with 2:19 left in the quarter. Schulte hit a traditional three-pointer at the buzzer of the quarter for six points in the quarter to join Middleton in combining for 14 points in the frame for a 49-33 lead.
LCU also connected on an ensuing three-pointer (to start the fourth quarter scoring) by
Madelyn Turner, and Duncan hit two more, for three three-pointers before the Wildcats received their first field goal of the quarter. Daemen went over five minutes without a field goal and LCU built their lead up to a 22-point margin (60-38,5:48 remaining) before the final buzzer sounded with LCU winning 66-49
Middleton led LCU with 17 points and matched a career high with three steals.
Ashton Duncan and Schulte each finished with 12 points, with Duncan also adding a career-high eight rebounds and Schulte providing four of LCU's 13 steals in the game. The swipes for LCU led to a 20-5 scoring advantage in points-off-turnovers (LCU had a 15-6 advantage in turnovers). LCU won by 17 points despite shooting their second-lowest field goal shooting mark of the season (38.8%).
