KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 8, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University senior defender
Ivan Muanze-Bengono was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Central Region Second Team, the association announced on Wednesday.

This is the second All-Region honor this season for Muanze-Bengono, as he was also named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Region First Team. He was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team after the 2019 season.

Muanze-Bengono capped off his stellar Chaparral career by playing 1,321 minutes across 15 games. He led the LCU defense to a goals against average of just 1.22 and 10 shutouts on the season, which set a new program record. Lubbock Christian opponents averaged just 11.1 shots per game during the 2021 season and were able to put only 33 percent of those on goal.

The Glasgow, Scotland native also made an impact offensively, with one goal and a pair of assists. He was an All-Lone Star Conference First Team selection and named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year. It was his second Defensive Player of the Year award in his career.

A team captain each of the last three seasons, Muanze-Bengono finished his LCU career with 56 games played and over 4,000 minutes of action. He scored three career goals and had three assists during his time with the Chaps.

Lubbock Christian's 2021 season was the most successful in program history, as the went 10-6-2, finishing third in the Lone Star Conference during the regular season. Then during the LSC Tournament, LCU advanced all the way to the championship match, pushing Midwestern State all the way through two overtimes before falling in PKs.
