Highlights
Playing the volleyball regular season in the spring is unusual, and so is Lubbock Christian University's losing streak, which is at a program-worst eight games following a 3-1 loss to UT Permian Basin. Isela Murillo led UTPB with 16 kills and finished with 20.0 points, with Aquincia Strambler (12 kills) and Taurie Magee (10 kills) also having double-figure kill performances for the Falcons. Analise Lucio (48 assists and 18 digs) and Murillo (20 digs, 16 kills) each had double-doubles for the Falcons. Sage Chain led LCU with 12 kills. Jalee Sims posted a double-double for LCU with 35 assists and 19 digs.

How It Happened

Set One:
LCU was playing from behind most of the first set, as UTPB never trailed in the set. They used a 10-4 run to turn a 3-3 tie into a 13-7 Falcons lead. They hit .351 in the opening set and used a 6-1 run to build their lead to 20-10 before claiming the set 25-15. Stephanie Sanchez (5) and Isela Murillo (4) combined for nine of the Falcons 16 kills in the set. Sage Chain led LCU with three kills in the set.

Set Two:
A sequence of four kills in a 6-1 Falcons run allowed UTPB to gain momentum early with an 11-7 advantage. A pair of kills by Sage Post helped form a 4-0 LCU run to tie the set 11-11. Aquincia Strambler helped UTPB answer with two kills for a 4-0 run to match the run and build their lead back to a four-point advantage (15-11). LCU fought back to cut the deficits to 18-17, 22-20 and 24-22, but a kill by Strambler, her fifth of the set, captured the set for the Falcons (25-22).

Set Three:
Trailing 13-11, LCU went on a 9-2 run to take a 20-15 advantage. UTPB would attempt to rally back with an 8-4 run to cut LCU's lead to 24-23. Of LCU's final five points, four were scored by serving errors served by UTPB, including the final point, which allowed LCU to take the set 25-23. LCU had a 12-8 kill advantage in the set, with Sage Chain and Sage Post each with three kills for LCU.

Set Four:
UTPB extended a 14-13 lead with a 4-0 run for an 18-13 advantage. A 3-1 LCU run was able to pull the Lady Chaps within three (20-17), but UTPB closed the set on a 5-1 run, with Taurie Magee grabbing the final two Falcons points with kills for a 25-18 set win. Sage Chain (5) and Avery Moore (4) combined for nine of LCU's 17 kills in the set and hit .355 despite losing the set.
