CANYON, Texas (March 12, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University was swept by No.19 West Texas A&M 1-0 and 7-3 Friday night in Lone Star Conference play at Schroeder Park. The pair of losses has LCU with losses in six of their last seven games.

In the top of the first inning, LCU had
Savannah Wysocki at third base with one out, but were unable to get her home and LCU left the bases loaded.
How it Happened:
- In the first inning, Savannah Wysocki and Brooke Makemson each had singles, but LCU, with one out and two on, were unable to get a run across and left the bases loaded.
- In the bottom of the second inning, Madison Johnson hit a pinch-hit two-out single to score Gabriella Valforte for WT's lone run of the game. WT had two of their three hits (in the game) during the inning.
- WT pitcher Kyra Lair faced 20 consecutive LCU batters without allowing a hit, until a Tyla Lee leadoff single in the top of the seventh inning. Kamryn Gibbs walked to place a pair of runners on base with two outs, but Wysocki struckout to end the game.
Inside the Numbers:
- Taylor Franco had her ninth complete game of the season. She went 6.0 innings and allowed three hits in the loss.
- Savannah Wysocki had her third multi-stolen base performance of the season and her first since Jan. 30 at West Florida.
- Athena Muniz had a sacrifice bunt, which was only the second successful sacrifice bunt by the Lady Chaps this season.
- LCU was 0-for-7 in two-out at-bats. LCU was also 1-for-8 in at-bats with runners in scoring position.
- The Lady Chaps, who were shutout once all of last season, were shutout for the second time this season.
- Four pitches into the game, the game was stopped due to a lightning delay, which lasted 90 minutes.

Trailing 6-3 in the sixth inning, LCU had the bases loaded and one out, but
Kamryn Gibbs struck out and
Savannah Wysocki popped up to end the threat.
How it Happened:
- WT was hitless through the first two innings, but in the third inning, WT had ths first four batters reach base safely. Sydney Greeson hit a two-run double and Gabriella Valforte cleared the bases with a two-run home run to cap a five-run inning for a 5-0 lead.
- A two-out single by Ruby Salzman extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning before LCU cut into the deficit in the fifth inning. A pair of walks and an error led to LCU's first run of the game. It was the first of a three-run sixth inning by LCU, as Brooke Makemson ended the scoring with a RBI-single.
- Salzman added an insurance run with a two-out double to make the score 7-3.
- LCU loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning, but they were unable to get any runs across.
Inside the Numbers:
- The loss placed LCU with a 0-4 road record, and they have been held to 1.25 per game in those contests.
- Tyla Lee had a double in the game and it marked LCU's only extra-base hit of the day.
- LCU was 2-for-13 with runners on base and 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
- Brooke Makemson had a single to extend her hitting streak to 16 games.
- LCU, 8-0 last season against ranked competition, are 0-4 against rank opponents this season.
- WT improved to 15-9 all-time against LCU, extending their streak to eight consecutive wins over LCU in Canyon.
