LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (5-8, 4-6 LSC) vs.
TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL (5-11, 5-11 LSC)
Saturday, March 13 – 1 p.m.
Jorge Haynes Field – Laredo, Texas
LEADING OFF
After a win in Friday's series-opener, Lubbock Christian University has a chance to accomplish something they have not done so far this season – win three straight games. The last time the Chaparrals had a winning streak was more than a year ago and happened against this same Texas A&M International team.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – Puerto Rico native
Armando Valle will head to the mound to start the game for Lubbock Christian, making his team-leading fifth start of the year. The left-hander enters the game with an ERA of 6.16 in 19.0 innings on the mound. He has allowed just 14 hits in that time but really been hurt by the walk, dishing out 13 free passes. He does also lead the team in strikeouts though, with 21 this year. Valle leans heavily on the fly ball for outs, getting 21 through the air comparted to just 11 on the ground this year.
TAMIU – It will most likely be Bryce Faust who gets the nod for the Dustdevils as he is called upon for his sixth start this year. Faust, who throws from the right side, has an ERA of 4.91 this season in 25.2 innings of work. He has allowed 29 hits in that time and walked a team-leading 16 batters. In his last outing (3/6) Faust allowed four runs on six hits and four walks with just one strikeout against St. Mary's.
